This street is legendary, and the IT-place during the civil war and before and after. However, these days it is plagued by heavy traffic, a number of beggars, and the shops are struggling with the competition from the big malls. Nevertheless, a lot of good hotels and even more bars and restaurants, most of them well worth a visit!

Hamra Street runs east to west (one way) through central Beirut. Always full of traffic this is the busy heart of Beirut with more cafes and restaurants than you could ever need.

Hamra is very local.and arabic... More

lots of nice and unique boutiques all around, if you got tired from shopping no problem there are plenty of cafes to set, eat or drink and enjoy the crowded street its is highly recommended not to drive there as its is very crowded most of the time

Ita a nice shopping street with a lot of good shops (clothes, icecream, shawerama...etc) but to get in and out is very crowded it took forever especially if your accommodation is there!

I was staying near Hamra street for its historic fame , However things are not the same , Al Hamra now is only some restaurants chain and costume stores around Al Hamra you can find some small bars and clubs . But definitely it lost its glamour that we all know about in the early 70's and before the civil... More
