I've read very positive reviews about Hamra street before I first visited, and I probably set my expectations too high. True, there are many cafes and shops, but nothing extraordinary. Very noisy and busy traffic, a bit too chaotic for my taste.

The spirit of Beirut is clear for tourist who go to this street. Plenty of shops (international and local brands) restaurants and cofeshops on the sidewalks.

Although Hamra is a very lively street full of cafes, restos, pubs and shops, it is a very busy street due to the traffic especially during the day, so it is better to pick the right timing.

From Muslims to Christians, poor and rich, visitors and locals, bankers and students all the way to hipsters and socialists, Hamra is vibrant and pulsating street of Beirut. In fact it is a true reflection of Lebanon as it combines everything the country has to offer culturally into a very small street with lots of shops, galleries and brands.

It's always hectic to go there due to terrible traffic This was one of the great places decades ago. But very hectic to reach and get out of nowadays unless you pick up the right timing

You are in downtown Beirut! This is probably how Beirut was back in the 1960's. There are shops and stores where you can find almost everything. Plus, plenty of restaurants.

This street is the equivalent of downtown Beirut even thought it's not called that..it has a plethora of wonderful places to visit, escapes from the crowd, little bars and hidden gems. Must visit neighborhood for Beirut.
