The Al Hamra Building can be seen from many points, especially since it is the tallest structure in town, surpassing with a height of 413m the Liberation Tower. The skyscraper, finished in 2011, is so attractive, that it is not just a sight for its height, but also for its aesthetics, elected shortly after construction as one of the most beautiful skyscrapers in the world. A special feature are its sides as if flapping in the wind.

Even if one doesn't go inside to its mall, the building, owned by a leading local construction company, is worth to look at from the outside. Its architects were SOP (Skidmore, Owings and Merrill) from Chicago and associates. The building was mainly meant to create office spaces.

The concept of a vertical city in a desert might be appealing to many, but I have my doubts about it. Managing to keep the summer heat out is quite a challenge, though I understand it was part of the US designers' team most important concerns. Limestone tiles on the south wall and mesh tiles on the curved wall trancadis seem to have done the trick. Just imagine the effort it took, the tower is 413m high.

Anyway Al Hamra looks great and from an architectural point of view, a relief after having seen so many boring commercial skyscrapers in other parts of the world.

Not counting the fact that this place is completely amazing and astoundingly built, I will surely say I am not going to make a repeat visit!

A little bit of background.

Al Hamra Tower and Mall is the tallest tower in Kuwait. It has residential as well as corporate spaces. The Mall features high end luxury brands which makes no point for ordinary people to visit even if they are there to kill their time.

The top floor of the Mall has Grand Cinemas Multiplex theatres with approximately (if I counted right) 6 screens.

Now coming to the part why I will not make a repeat visit. If a lot of you guys reading this don't know the fact is that Kuwait has a lot of racism. Your nationality decides the respect that you are supposed to get from the locals.

Being in Kuwait for the last three years hasn't given me so much of a complex than what I felt in an evening at Hamra Mall. The people looked at us as if wondering how the hell the watchman allowed us inside.

High end racism! Something which makes me not want to go there again.

The four stars above I have given for the beautiful way they have made the Mall.

it was so close from my hotel, so i went there 5 minutes walk from the courtyard Marriott, i thought it will be a fantastic mall according to its fabulous look from outside, but it was disappointing, just few luxurious shops for high-edge brands and some expensive cafes. It was empty from crowds and rarely seeing shoppers, only security staff and the outlets workers! My advice is forget this mall and try something else, unless you are addicted to fancy names of fashion.

It's the new symbol in Kuwait. The 4 facades are all different.

My offices are at 70th to 73rd floor, so awesome.

The tower hosts a luxury shopping center and several restaurants.

There is also a large cinema and wide parking facility, covered but expensive.

I want there a couple of times for the cinema. The place is very nice and spacious and less crowded than the Avenues (although smaller but classier).

World renowned brands and very nice restaurants.

As for Grand Cinema, it is my first experience in a 3D cinema theatre. So OMG !!!!!!

Caramel popcorn is a must try.
