Very central, easy to find and cheap to enter (compared to Iraq Museum). Nice sights of historic and cultural seeds of Iraq. Was also lucky to be shown around by one of the museum employees who was very knowledgable.

If you want to truly understand Iraqi history and architecture go to the Iraqi museum.

This museum features the customs and traditions of Iraq in papier mâché type human and animal depictions in traditional garb depicting every day life around some typical utensils used.

It’s a bit kitschy. There are some live musicians using traditional instruments which is the best part.

If you have time go. If not, no big deal.

.I've been living in Bagdad for some years. My father was a geologist. I studied at International school under the guideness of the Russian Ambassy. People there in Bagdad are very kind and industrious. I made friends with some Arab children. We were not permitted to walk around the town alone. It was rather dangerous at that time but we ran away to walk and play, The special school bus took us to school every day and Arab children came to see us off. They didn't go to school. The girl of 12 years old was praparing to merry. The boys were working hard helping their parents. For example one of them was busy with cleaning the waterpools the other was watering the gardens. The y had their own values and beliefs and looked very independant. We envied them.

This museum shows Baghdad's traditions from the first half of last century , in fun way . My children were excited to see all these statues ( dolls) doing the everyday usual chores , it feels like we travelled by time machine more than 70 years earlier !

It's easy to arrive to museum from any region in Baghdad by a taxi, the entrance fee is very cheap about 1$, the palace contain all the daily activities for the old Baghdad citizens like the music & songs, shopping, cafes, hand made shops, wedding parties, public bathroom for men & women,& antique Baghdad houses.
You'll spent 1-2 hours to see all the insider things..go ahead & enjoy.
