To be honest, we were unlucky, since we arrived just in time for the New Year in Iran, just like in our country, they spend a long time walking, and therefore the whole family goes to all the parks and attractions. This was our first visit to the park and we were horrified by the influx of people. You could stand in line for hours at one palace; we never got to the Green Palace. Basically, the complex was built under the Qajars in the 20th century, where the last Shah Reza Pahlavi lived, modern, where eastern and western styles are combined. A huge park, where there are several more buildings to visit, a garage with rare cars, a royal kitchen, etc. I really liked the gallery of paintings, gifts for rulers, our Shishkin is there, which we can be proud of. I don’t recommend visiting this place on holidays, you won’t get any impressions, a huge crowd carries you in and out of the buildings.

The Saad َAbaad complex consists of 18 palaces and museums in a beautiful garden; A lush garden is an excellent place for passing a couple of hours.
The decoration inside the palaces, notably the White Palace and the Green Palaces, is fantastic. Also, you can see the luxurious belongings of the royal family of the last kings of Iran.
Moreover, there are several museums in the Complex, including the Farshchian Museum, the Museum of the Royal Automobiles, Mellat Museum (Nation Museum), etc. I was fascinated by the Farshchian Museum that was full of beautiful paintings.
After visiting the Saad Abaad complex, we visited Darband Recreational Site in the same neighborhood and had lunch there. That was an excellent experience, I suggest it.

The whole Sa’dabad complex used to be the Summer Palace for the Iranian royal family; and it is more than 1 square kilometer. It would take one more than 3 days to visit all the palaces and the museums in the complex. We stayed at the 5-star Parsian Azadi International Hotel, which is less than 15 minutes away from the Sa’dabad complex.

The complex is around 1 hour of driving from/to IKA (Imam Khomeini International Airport), which is not very ideal. Highly Recommended.

An irani freind took us to this complex on our first day. We were still quite tired and a bit overwhelmed.
We would probably have problems getting to or from it alone as it is so far in the north.
But it is quite cool (compared to the rest of the city) with beautiful gardens and palaces - although we only went into the green palace (no pictures allowed).
One would deffinatly need more time to see more.

The cultural and historical Saadabad Palace Complex, dating back to the Qajar and Pahlavi eras, when the country was on the road to modernity, was initially constructed and inhabited by the Qajar dynasty in the 19th century to be used as a summer palace. It consists of 17 palaces, museums, and halls. However, only ten Saadabad Palace museums are open to the public.
If you just want to take a very brilliant memory of Tehran, visiting this palace, even just some palaces, it is recommended more the one hundred percent!

To be honest I was little disappointed after visit in this complex. I wanted to run away from busy city centre to some more quiet place and breathe fresh air. First I had huge problem with entrance. They didn't want to accept cash. Then do not expect easy walk through this complex. Not everywhere you can enter. It is not well maintained. There was a park less neglected and for free in Tehran centre better than this complex.

I highly recommend the Sadabaad Palace complex to everyone who is going to visit Tehran. It has a very good atmosphere and view of the city. You will believe that history and present time are their at the same time. There are very beautiful museums and palaces. You have many english written boards for information for tourists. The employees are very nice and friendly.

A nice getaway from Tehran's polluted streets and traffic. . I think it's a must see in Tehran .. I spent about 4 hours there, visited the white palace, and the Royal Cars museum, both need about 30-45 mins inside. The remaining time I spent wandering around and enjoying the greenery and the fresh air. Go there by metro, get down in Tajreesh and take one of the green microbuses parked infront of the station exit in Kods Square for 10k Rials. Enjoy :)

The Saadabad Palace is a palace built by the Pahlavi dynasty of Iran in the Shemiran area of Tehran.

The complex was first inhabited by Qajar monarchs and royal family in the 19th century. After an expansion of the compounds, Reza Shah lived there in the 1920s. And his son, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi moved there in the 1970s.

I suggest to see The Green Palace at first, Mellat palace (marbel palace) at second, Omidvar brothers museum at third, Farshchian museum, Kamal e din Behzad museum and other

The best entrance is the North one , that you can take taxi from Tajrish Sq. to Darband (to the north gate).

This palace was the summer residence for Pahlavi and Qadjar monarchy in 19 century in Iran. This was actually a complex of 300 hectares in Shemiran region in Tehran. Today near this palace is the official residence of Iran’s president. You can also see the best and oldest carpet in this palace which are woven in Tabriz, Kerman and Mashhad workshops.
