Tochal Telecabin (gondola lift)
Tochal Telecabin is probably the world's longest gondola lift lines with a length of 7500 m. The project started in 1974 and has been open to the public since 1978. It starts at the Velenjak valley in north of Tehran at an altitude of 1900 m. and ends at the last station at an altitude of 3740 m., near the main ridge of Mount Tochal. This gondola lift is used for accessing ski resorts and other recreational centers on the mountain. Beautiful landscape, mountain fresh air and a multitude of fresh water springs adds to the freshness of the area. With upgrading the safety standards of telecabin lines, families and sportspeople can enjoy the telecabin ride and other facilities with joy and pleasure.
The gondola lift has four stations:
Station 1 is at an elevation of 1900 m. and located at the beginning of Velenjak valley (end of Velenjak Street). Parking, inns and some other facilities are available.
Station 2 is at 2400 m. and has very limited facilities.
Station 5 is at 2935 m. There is a restaurant and a rescue centre. This station is in the middle of one of the ski slopes which is open only in mid-winter but rarely used. This station is also accessible through several climbing paths like Shirpala shelter, Osoon valley and Palang-chal shelter. In order to get to Station 7 you have to change here.
Station 7 is at 3740 m. and very close to the Tochal main ridge. It is the last station of the gondola lift. This station is in the middle of the Tochal ski slope. The Tochal main peak is a 30-minute walk from this point. This station is also reachable from Hezar-cham climbing path from Station 5.
Tochal Ski Resort
Tochal Skiing resort is one of the popular recreational places in Tehran
The main ski slopes are located in Station 7:
Peak: This slope is started from the foot of Tochal (at 3850 metres) and ends in the hotel (at 3550 metres). The length of the slope is 1200 metres and the very suitable slope. There are one Doppelmayr chairlift and one teleski improvised in this ski slope, for transferring skiers. Because of the height of the ski slope in station 7 (more than 3,500 metres above sea level), similar to the Alvares Ski Resort in Sabalan, Azarbaijan, Iran, these slopes are covered with snow for more than 8 months during the year. Also Half Pipe is available for the customers in this ski slope.
Western Foothill: This slope is located on the western foothill of the Tochal Mountain and the unique views of the surrounding mountains have given it a spectacular manifestation. The length of the ski slope is 900 metres, the peak having 3,750 metres height, and its lowest spot (Tochal Hotel) is 3550 metres high. A Poma chairlift is built in this slope for skiers.the price is $3 to $15 it is open from 8 am to 3 pm
Tochal Hotel
price $40 to $130
Unique location, proper services, and mountainous natural beauty are the specialties of the Tochal Hotel The hotel is located 3,545 meters above the sea.

In the evening when you would like to continue enjoying of your time in Tehran, Tochal is a perfect choice , which is continuously open all the time. You can take a long walk from the parking space to the first station and meanwhile enjoy of different type of activities like: Watching waterfall, Eating different foods, Drinking Tea, Playing Paintball, Doing Archery and etc. These all are just before the main station , then after a half of minutes of walking you can see the compete view of Tehran Mega City and get mad by its wonderful cool weather. Now here all activities just begin and you have plenty of options. take a cable car (there is a limitation for cable cay system and at night it is always off ) , or do tennis or just seat and watch the view. Eat some Kebab, or fresh juices. It is alive and you can meet the actual culture of the young people from Tehran.
You always can do mountain climbing.

This place is open during all seasons of the year and you can ski , snowboard, hike ... in this place also it's inside Tehran which makes it great for tourists and have a safe environment, I personally visit this place during winter mostly January and February for snowboarding it's great for beginners due to its safe mountain slope , it will only take 20 minutes to get there via telecabin but you must be there around 7 am or you will be waiting a long line queue.

I went to Tochal resort and going up by tele cabin (cable car) up to station 7 where the snow lies. It has 3 choices of station 3rd, 5th and 7th. in Spring you wont find anything in 3rd station. in 5th statsion you could stop by for taking pictures of grater Tehran and snowy mountain on the background.
After that, proceed to station 7, where you can play ski, snowboarding, sledging or just to enjoy the scenery and snowy mountain.
Price is very reasonable (400000 riyals/around $8) to get to station 7.
Better go there in weekdays. On weekend can be very crowded.

Went to Tochal last night and I was blown away.
Located on the mountain you'll find lots of activities to do here.
Tele-cabins, escape rooms, VR play rooms, restaurants and the worlds scariest rollercoaster. It was the first time I sat on a rollercoaster on the side of a mountain having to use my own brakes in order not to hit the person in front of me, awesome I loved it!
