Its a shame that bahrain souq has lost its charm. Most shops sell chinese made trinklets. Parking can be difficult. There is a great arabic restaurant just as you enter the main drag of the souq on the right hand side. Always full. Apart from the pretty entrance the rest of the souq is grubby and droll. The people are... More

Built by the British in 1945-49, Bab Al Bahrain, the ‘Gateway to Bahrain’ and the entrance to Manama Souq , was originally designed by Sir Charles Belgrave. The small square in front of the bab (gate) was once the customs pier where traders on Dhows would off load their goods from India, Pakistan, Iran, and beyond and sell them to... More

Bab Al Bahrain is the quintessential souk that one imagines in the Middle east. with its narrow lanes and eager sellers offering a variety of items.

Come during the day, when you can haggle more. Bring cash and have fun. There are all types of stores. We got fresh juice while we walked around. There are tailor shops, electronics, lighting shops, etc. It's a great place to buy souvenirs. The shop owners honestly tell you they sell "authentic fakes" of name brand purses and electronics.

This is a market where u can find everything. Definitely bargain.... I didn't realize that it is expected to haggle your price down. Wonderful spices, handbags, luggage, sunglasses, clothing, electronics... all available. Good knock offs available as well. Also traditional Bahraini outfits... paid 5BD for a jalabaiya Kaufman type dress!

This used to be the gate of Bahrain. It is the main market of bahrain with all classic shops and merchants having their shops there. It is open air and my advice is to go during winter or spring. You can find many old staff and gold.

This mall is located in the old souq of Bahrain. Nice place to shop and good restaurants for brunch or lunch

I been there once , and it was too crowded , I couldn't stand how much the floor was dirty and no signs to show you where are you in the souk, the mall is not organised enough to give you the experience of visiting a very authentic place in Bahrain . I love that I could've a chance to... More

Visited this Souk, with a friend who was showing me a good place to shop. It has some really nice stores and shops to spend money in. It going to be a place I return to in my next visit.
