Great views and interesting history. There’s little information onsite so research prior to arriving is recommended for maximum benefit. We drove across from the Dead Sea but would advise arriving from direction of Amman/Madaba instead for better driving conditions. Don’t be fooled by the boy...More

If you haven't already been to the Panorama or other viewing sites, it's worth hiking up for the view of the Dead Sea. Otherwise, there's little to see up top and no information (bring your own if you want to know what your'e looking at)....More

Machaerus was a big populated city at the beginning of our era ,sited near by Ma'in Spa. It was ruled by Irod ,who killed Ioan Baptist.

in a volcanic shape you will see the ruins of an ancient fortress that King Herod used to hide himself. He probably got John the Baptist imprisoned here and was also killed here.

Interesting to see this place where Johannes Baptist was imprisoned and executed. It was not so much left of the fortress of course and there was very nice view.
