About
Founded in 1998, Dar Al-Anda is housed in two historic villas, originally built in Amman’s fabled Jabal Al-Weibdeh in the 1930’s. Whether you’re looking for fine art or simply looking to travel back in time through breathtaking views of Old Amman’s several rolling hills, as well as Roman and Ottoman ruins such as The Citadel and the Arc of Hercules, Dar Al-Anda is a quintessential cultural stop for first-time and returning visitors to Amman.

A venue that shares with people one of the eldest built houses in the Jordanian capital and transformed into an art gallery , it is open to public and exhibits for many arab and regional artists from all over the world .

Dar al Anda is the product of a vivacious young woman whose aim is as much to help artists as to have a successful gallery.
Majdoline Ghzeiwi al Ghoul is the owner of this gallery. In a previous venue, she had a high end café/tea house that accompanied the gallery and which was a venue of musical performances by refugee Iraqi musicians who entertained the Jordanian public.
In this newer venue, Majdouline acquired properties of big families who lived in the area in the 50s. Terraces overlooking the valley where stretches the marketplace and other hills studded with houses stand as picturesque memorabilia. The stone house with traditional windows and marvellous terrazzo pavements inside, houses a constantly changing, rich collection of paintings and sculptures.
Little elegant armchairs give this ancient place even more warmth while the contemporary art pieces flail their colours and expression.
In the lower house, Majdoline opens up art courses for the children of the mountain, mostly coming from low income homes.
This a place with heart, a place with soul.
majdoline’s Own house towers over her gallery. It boasts some of the best art collections in the country, and an unbeatable view of old Amman.
Advice: this visit could be joined with a visit of Darat al Funun, nearby.
If you follow the road and go up left, you will come across the most interesting traditional restaurants for a wholesome dinner.

I’ve visited Dar Al-Anda Art Gallery in Amman on the last day of very special photography exhibition of National Geographic featured documentary photographer Agnes Montanari - Hammams of Yemen - Sana'a's Underworld - with a collection of intimate photographs of one of the places in the world that is very hard or even impossible now to visit.
Gallery is well known place to get by taxi - located at Jabal Lweibedeh, old villa on one of the Amman’s hills with beautiful view on the city and Citadel.
Gallery has a small art shop with local art, and whole place has its own charm.
Very nice and calm place, especially in late afternoon hours close to sunset – light is beautiful for photography.

A beautifully restored old house in Weibdeh that dates back to the 1930s, eclectic range of exhibitions and cultural events all year round, ranging from the visual arts to concerts and installation pieces. They have a cool store called the vault that is reminiscent of museum stores with a lot of original yet affordable art items. Make sure to take a moment on their balcony and take in the charm of old Amman.

Dar Al-Anda is a lovely little gallery run by a similarly lovely lady. The exhibitions are carefully selected and the grounds are a nice place to sit for a bit.

I went there for various times and it was really good because the art in the different houses and out of the houses is very different. I had coffee and drinks there and chilled out. All the people are very nice and helpful. You don't have to pay an entrance fee.

I visited the Gallery when it hosted the World Press Photo 16 exhibition. The place is nice in a beautiful neigborhood in Weibdeh. The exhibition was interesting and well organized.

We tracked this art gallery down and after climbing about 100 stairs found it on a street overlooking a valley in Amman. The gallery is set down away from the street and is a very nice quiet space. If you are looking for some Jordanian or Palestinian art then this is a great place to go. the staff were very friendly and showed us some very interesting works. At our tie of visiting they were between shows but still had plenty of art to show us.
