To start, no Duke lived in this building. A rich local bought it and decided to turn it into a museum. It has odd opening hours - sometimes it opens in the mornings; other times at night, depending on staff availability, I was told. When it is open, large signs are placed on either side of the steps. It is... More

Worth a visit when you are Downtown as it is so unexpected! It's also then worth going around the corner for a slice of knafeh - the long queue is testament to its quality!

Other than the fact that's one of the oldest building in downtown , there is nothing special about it. You have to climb 28 steps ( many of them broken , so mind your steps!!!) . The flat has nothing special: ordinary furniture, old pictures and newspapers ; it is very dark inside and dusty. I was the only visitor... More

Having been told should not miss this time capsual I found it difficult to locate and frankly disappointing when I did , it was unloved and whilst there were a few interesting artefacts they were not really displayed , more a voyage of discovery , there was someone in attendance but she was more intent on focusing on her mobile... Fairly easy to find and worth a quick visit. The Duke is really friendly. Gives you an insight into the Amman of 50-60 years ago.

Nice slice of a time gone by. Great to see that little has been touched by time. It is like a time capsule on the Duke's period in Amman

The Duke of Mukhyber's Residence is a rather odd place. It was quite difficult to find. l I had almost given up and went into the Al Rasheed Court Cafe for some refreshment only to discover I could see the 'Duke's Residence' from their balcony! The Duke's residence is a strange mixture of old items and photographs in a decaying... More

On your walking tour through the downtown of Amman, you should stop by this place. It can be a short or a long visit, as you wish. It is a small house, claiming to be oldest existing building of Amman, and acting as some sort of Museum. It is full of old pictures, old newspaper articles and, in summary, full... More

A must visit historic house in downtown Amman. Saved by a local philanthropist (the Duke), the 2nd story house features historic photos of Amman, along with pieces of art, newspapers, etc. If the duke is in the house, you may get invited to a free Knafeh with him, bought fresh from Habiba downstairs
