I have just finished a private one day photography tour of the Old City and the Mahane Yehuda market in Jerusalem with Laurie Cohen. He was an excellent teacher and I learned so much about street photography. Working with Laurie I realized how much I enjoyed this genre. Not only did he have a lot of patience, he was extremely knowledgeable. I have been on workshops before but I must say that Laurie’s was outstanding. We spent many hours photographing in areas that he knows well. We worked on my composition as well as some technical pointers using my Fuji camera. It was a great experience and I can highly recommend him. I’m already thinking about other trips in the country I will take with Laurie on our return to Israel or at other places he does workshops.

I had the great pleasure of a 3 hour photo tour with Laurie in Tel Aviv. Laurie inspired me to frame my pictures differently and from different angles and then he knows all the nice places for stellar photography in Tel Aviv. I really enjoyed walking around with him in the city and talk about life, Israel, travel experience etc. while at the same time enhancing my photography skills.

Hi Cynthia,
Thank you for touring with me and for your kind words. I am glad that you enjoyed the photography tour in Jerusalem and the south. It was a lot of fun! It was great watching your photo skills improve over the course of the day, and am glad you overcame any anxieties about street photography. It was great to watch you feel more confident about taking candid shots of strangers. Thanks again, and I look forward to reuniting in the future,
Laurie

This is the second time I have been photo-guided by Laurie, the first one being in the Barcelona area. I enjoyed that so much, and learned many good tips, so was pleased that he was available in Israel when I was visiting. As my time with Laurie dovetailed with a group tour, he arranged our schedule to visit different places, and at different times.... The best times. Laurie seems to know every nook and cranny of Israel, so I felt that I was on a unique tour with great photo opps. Laurie is easy-going, but serious about his profession. I felt that I had 100% of his attention, and he always seems to have the right balance between giving me freedom, while at the same time providing excellent advice on composition, settings, and getting the most out of my camera. I look forward to seeing him again in the future, and highly recommend him.

We were supposed to be on a group photography tour of Israel, but as it turned, out, we were the only couple who had booked this particular tour, so we had Laurie as our private guide for 6 days. We visited Akko, Caesarea, Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Masada, the Dead Sea, and the Negev. It rained for the first couple of days off-and-on, but we were able to shoot between the raindrops successfully, because Laurie knew where to go despite the weather!
Laurie is a terrific photographer, and is very personable and friendly. We think of him as our new best friend now! As the tour went along it felt more like a trio of buddies out on a shooting expedition, and less like a formal workshop, which suited me perfectly. He knew all the best places to go at all the best times to get the best shots. He shared several new techniques with us, especially for street-shooting. I've always favored the street but now I have new tools to catch the most interesting people in their natural state.
We had plenty of time to share stories and jokes, but I have to tell you that the funniest thing that happened was when he showed up for the tour with the car he had rented for the workshop: a tiny beat-up old Chevy with a for-rent sign painted on the side. Oy! (He took the ribbing good-naturedly, though).
I would absolutely recommend anyone interested in photography to book a tour with Laurie. You will NOT be disappointed; you will learn a lot, see wonderful things, and come back with more keeper shots than you know what to do with.

Thank you to Ben Shapira, who led our 3 hour tour around the old city of Jerusalem. He made the trip interesting and relaxing, centering it around our interests and needs. Although he had a planned itinerary, he kept giving us options and responding positively to whatever we chose
He was very friendly and chatty and showed us some unusual spots and views - as previous visitors we wanted new angles to look at. He also gave my son some great advice about photo composition, and how to take great portraits without people getting offended.
Thank you Ben for a relaxing wander through the old city - the highlight was when you bargained our way into a fantastic rooftop view of the old city from a little known yeshiva

I visited Israel and Palestine for the first time recently along with my wife (non photographer). We did 3 tours with Laurie which covered Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and one heading North to Acre and Caesarea.
Laurie is great company and a very easy person to spend time with, full of knowledge and very helpful. I was delighted with my shots, learned lots more about photography and got to see some amazing sights. I liked that Laurie was able to combine great coaching on photography and the best way to appreciate the iconic sights in Israel.
Thanks so much Laurie from Andy Clachers!

I am an avid amateur photographer with some experience, good equipment, but as this was only my third trip to Israel I need a guide to get me to good places and I sought a guide that would include some photography coaching as well. I had a tour of Tel Aviv with Bernadette, and she was an exceptional guide. She suggested great angles and perspectives, she explained her strategies for telling stories through her photography, and she had just the right balance of giving feedback and leaving you space to do your photography. In short, she was excellent as a teacher as well as a guide, and I would definitely book her again if I find myself back in Tel Aviv.
I also had a full day in the north with Laurie, and he was excellent as a guide, coach, and fun companion. He knew and modeled how to capture images of Israel that went beyond the touristic postcard photography, and gave me good advice. He took me to stunning sites and from Rosh Hanikra Grottes I have one of my favorite photos ever taken. Perhaps I learned the most in terms of photography on our trip to Jerusalem. I had been there before and being there felt familiar, but it was Laurie's expertise in street photography and his eye for seeing and his sense of timing that helped me to photograph in a different way than before. This is the kind of expert coaching you only get from a seasoned photographer who spends time exclusively dedicated to helping you extend your experiences. Highly recommended. Thank you, Laurie and Bernadette.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review of your experience with Israel Photography Tour, and thank you for your kind words!
Both Bernadett and myself agreed how much we enjoyed your companionship while discovering Israel through our eyes, and through your lens!
The images you posted to TripAdvisor were quite beautiful. It is rare to come across a photographer that can master both the technical and creative aspects so well, but I see that you pulled it off in fine style!
We hope to reunite in the future in Israel, or on one of our international photography workshops as discussed.
Warm regards,
Laurie

I booked Laurie Cohen for a three day private tour in Dec 2017/Jan 2018. We did a full day in Jerusalem, one day in the Masada/Dead Sea area and one day in Akko/Caesarea. Before my arrival, Laurie discussed my goals and needs for the tour. Then he customized the itinerary based on my feedback of what I wanted. Upon meeting Laurie, I was struck by his pleasant easygoing manner which continued over the three days. When he wasn't suggesting locations, subjects or angles from which to shoot, he was entertaining me with stories of his adventures around the world. The time flew by everyday as we toured the country. I got some great shots that would not have been possible on my own or on a "regular" tour. It was well worth the money and I would definitely go on another adventure with Laurie.

Just a few days ago I had the pleasure of doing a photography tour in Jerusalem with Laurie Cohen. Even though I had already done a lot of walking around and photographing the old city on my own, Laurie really helped me with the piece I was missing: the people of Jerusalem. Street photography is something I've never been very good with and Laurie showed me a few tricks that I'll be able to use on all my future travels. But this tour wasn't just limited to street photography, he also showed me how to look at some of the fascinating tiny details that make up the iconic places and photograph them in a new way. I very much recommend this tour.

Hi there!
My apologies for the delayed reply. I am currently giving a photo workshop in Morocco, and have limited internet connection. Thank you for bringing this to my attention - I will look into why the link to my site is not shown now. In the meantime please do a quick search online and you will find my company site easily.
Many thanks,
