We have been meaning to write this review up for some time now. In November 2019 my wife and I took a trip of a lifetime to Israel. It was a place we'd always wanted to visit since we met 26 years ago. We've been in every state of the US, half of Canada and down the Baja in Mexico entirely on our own but for something like this, we didn't want to experience "the learning curve" of traveling to the Middle-East. Neither of us speak the language nor are we familiar with the do's and don'ts there so we thought that a tour group would probably be the best for something like this. We'd never been on a tour before and really weren't sure where to start. I work in the travel business and speak with numerous folks from all over the world on a regular basis. All suggested going with a small group. We then did lots of searching and reading online, and spoke with several people at church who'd been there. We stumbled across a company called Pomegranate Tours that sounded intriguing and had great reviews. Right from the get go, it was a class act. The communication at every twist and turn was fantastic. We were back and forth with them on the phone and email, as we discussed the tours they offered. The more we spoke with them the more we were convinced these were the right folks to set up our trip of a lifetime. And they did not disappoint us! We settled on the 9 day small group tour from November 8 - 17th, 2019. All we had to do was get to Tel-Aviv and they'd take care of the rest. We decided on Lufthansa Airlines out of Seattle to Tel-Aviv. The more back and forth we did with Pomegranate and Lufthansa however, the more we thought arriving in Israel a couple days in advance might be best, since we were looking at 14 hours in the air and a 10 hour time difference. Eric, Leesa and Samantha were fantastic at booking the additional days at the same hotels that we were scheduled to stay at during the tour. It saved us a lot of schlepping from hotel to hotel. They also booked us a couple extra days after the tour ended in Tel-Aviv so we could explore a bit more on our own. The tour was incredible and it was truly amazing to actually walk where Jesus walked. There ended up being just 10 of us in our group. None of us knew each other but we all seemed to click. Everyone was ready and on time when we went off on our daily ventures. Our driver Avi was fantastic. His navigating the narrow streets and twisty turny roads was impressive. He had a very nice way about him as he passed on his knowledge of the area to us. Eitan was our tour guide and was simply amazing. He truly was like a walking encyclopedia of Israeli history so much so that his knowledge is still filtering down through our heads. He was very down to earth, approachable and funny. Both Eitan and Avi worked well together which was apparent in how well organized the trip was. Eitan also seemed to have a 6th sense about him knowing when to change some of the times that we visited certain sights in order to avoid the many crowds we saw throughout our 9 day odyssey. This was especially true when we went to the Dead Sea to go swimming. Eitan flip-flopped our arrival time there to earlier in the morning to avoid the crowds. When we arrived there the beach was wide open. When we left, the crowds were arriving. It was situations like this throughout our journey that showed us his true professionalism and flexibility. All the hotel accommodations were great! We especially loved the Arthur Hotel in Jerusalem that we stayed at for the first 5 days and all the cats that hung out around the hotel looking for scraps and affection. They made us feel right at home. The Kibbutz we stayed at the Golan Heights for 2 nights was really something else along with the jeep ride to the Israel/Syrian border. It was quite the memorable experience to "hang out" with the UN Peace Keepers. Our final stop was in Tel Aviv where we stayed at the Tal Hotel for 4 days while there. The hotel was walk-able to the beach along the Mediterranean Sea and was more of the modern variety but very top notch. The last place we visited on the tour was the top-secret bullet factory from 1945. We gotta admit when we first read about it in the tour package it didn't sound that interesting to us, however it turned out to be one of the most fascinating places we visited. This is all the more reason to travel with them, as they sure know how to setup experiences that are truly unique. We could go on and on but suffice it to say, our experience with Pomegranate Tours was outstanding and we highly recommend them to anyone looking for the small group tour experience. They made this one of our best travel experiences we've ever had in our lifetime. We would book with them again in a heartbeat if we were heading that direction again. Paul & Teresa Olympia, WA

I want to thank Pomegranate Travel for a perfect family trip to Israel (July 28, 2019- August 7, 2019; I'm overdue with this review!) to celebrate my son's Bar Mitzvah. We had Pomegranate deliver two private itineraries with different guides and vehicles to accommodate the needs of our family- a more active itinerary for my immediate family including two sons, and an itinerary for older family members. Gal Shaine provided expert and very accommodating travel planning services (Ryan Dritz assisted with the initial arrangements). Highlights of the itineraries included a private lecture/discussion by political expert Yiscar Harani, an immersive experience with a meal in a private home in the Arab village of Ein Rafa, a private tour and hands-on excavation at an active archaeological site, VIP tour and seating at the Tower of David Sound and Light Show, a Mahane Yehuda Market tour with a local chef, and a Golan Heights jeep tour with an IDF reservist/political consultant, in addition to many other unforgettable experiences. Pomegranate arranged all details of the Bar Mitzvah ceremony, which we had at Robinson's Arch with Rabbi Or Zohar. We had a Reform ceremony held on a non-traditional Wednesday morning, so the site was empty allowing for a casual and private ceremony. Rabbi Zohar delivered a perfect casual, meaningful, and joyous ceremony. Gal graciously assisted with every detail requested for each itinerary, including dinner reservations at several top restaurants (Mona in Jerusalem and Kitchen Market in Tel Aviv were both excellent). Pomegranate delivered with excellent hotel selections (The David Citadel, the Setai Kinneret, The Scots Hotel, and the Carlton Tel Aviv). The most significant factor in pushing the trip to -perfect- were the amazing guides provided by Pomegranate- Adrian delivered the older family members' itinerary with expertise; Ron Sinai delivered the younger family members' more active itinerary, capturing the attention of our sons to the history, culture, and landscape! Thank you (a little bit late) to all Pomegranate staff for delivering an unforgettable experience! We will be back in 2022 for the next son's Bar Mitzvah.

Just back from an epic trip to Israel with some friends. We were all super impressed by Pomegranate Travel, which had organised everything from the moment we landed to the moment we left. I would highly recommend them for the following reasons:- i) The itinerary was awesome, and perfectly met our wishes for the trip. There’s so much variety and adventure in Israel and these guys know the full scope and have the inside scoop. ii) The guides, hotels, restaurants, private chefs etc. that they organised were top class. iii) The people at Pomegranate were thoroughly lovely, very efficient, and responsive on the ground when the need arose (e.g. when one of us forgot to take their coat when we went glamping in the desert!). In fact, I couldn’t recommend Pomegranate highly enough!

I booked the Pomegranate Boutique tour of Israel for November as a present to myself and it exceeded my expectations. I had been to Israel several times before, but I never had been able to see much besides Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. This tour seemed like it would take me all over the country (except Eilat but I had been there years ago) and see lots of things I had not seen before. I really cannot recommend this tour enough. From the get to, the staff at Pomegranate were super helpful, both via email and on the phone, recommending I come one day earl to get acclimated and arranging for my hotel and transportation to Jerusalem from the airport. The hotel in Jerusalem could not be in a better location! It's right by Ben Yehuda Street which comes alive at night with pedestrian only crowds and Yaffa st, a main shopping area. plus walking distance to the Old City. The room is pretty small, and it's not "super lux" like a Ritz Carlton, but it is exactly like in the picture with very modern amenities and super clearn/streamlined and the staff is great, plus a great free breakfast every morning. Our guide Etan was truly amazing. Super knowledgeable, funny, humble, yet able to provide historical context for many of the sites both Christian and Jewish in a straight-forward manner that is accessible to anyone regardless of one's religious affiliation or lack thereof. Our driver Avi was really great, super interesting and fun to hang out with at dinner/breakfast. We were also lucky in that a Pomegranate staff member joined us for most of the trip, Yasmin. She was really great, friendly and was able to help people with various things they wanted to do outside of the tour (dinner, other booking, etc.). Etan was so smart, because for some reason, that month tourism was busier than usual, so he re-arranged some of our daily itineraries so we would avoid the huge crowds. If you take this tour you will never be bored! It's almost too much, in that you see os much I can't always remember everything when I look at the pictures! We went to Ceasaria, Acre, Tsfat, the Golan Heights (the Kibbutz there is very cool and like a modern Israeli hotel retreat). The Dead Sea, various archaeological sites and nature preserves. There really was so much to do and see all in 10 days it's amazing. The hotel in Tel Aviv was the same chain as Jerusalem but even more modern and more lux, and again, a great location very convenient to everything. Touring with 9 other people (whom I did not know) in a luxurious Mercedes mini/van was a great experience. I highly recommend this tour and Pomegranate.

This was my fourth trip to Israel, and each time the country surprised me with new aspects of its diversity and complexity. This time we were on a short celebratory group trip. As always, Pomegranate have done an exceptional job with designing an exciting itinerary, tailored to our specific interests. Whether camping in the Negev desert or walking in the Jerusalem hills, the experiences were extremely well organised and the guides fantastic. All the hotels and restaurants arranged by Pomegranate were exceptional, and the level of service excellent, with Dana in touch continuously to make sure everything was going well. She needn't have worried... Thanks (again), Pomegranate!
