About
As then, today too, the mythological Gordon swimming pool - which was opened in 1956 - offers a variety of swimming options: from the 50 meter-long Olympic-size pool; through to the children's pool stretching over an area of 200 square meters; and the toddlers’ pool which includes a variety of water games. The water in the pools is mineral-rich groundwater which is replenished on a daily basis. Bathers are guaranteed a refreshing, enjoyable and natural feeling, with the real smell of the sea. The temperature of the water in the pool is constant and remains at about 24 degrees. In 2009 the pool was renovated by the Tel Aviv - Jaffa Municipality and re-opened to the public. Around the pools there are anti-slip deck areas that are safe and comfortable to walk on; these are scattered with armchairs, sun-beds and sunshades. For the convenience of the bathers there are clean and spacious showers adjacent to the pool complex. Visitors to the Gordon Pool can enjoy high quality and delicious coffee at the nearby "Landwer Café", which is situated overlooking the Promenade and the Marina.

Fantastic pool... and the location and ocean views were outstanding. Swam there 3x last week while over on biz. Convenient and easy to use. Perhaps a bit on pricey side for only using it for laps but it was well worth it. Got great workouts!! Water felt great with the salt. It wasn't crowded and was clean. Long laps were great relative to indoor gym pools in US.

On a working visit to Tel Aviv for a week I wanted to maintain training for a half Ironman and Gordon Pool was excellent
Great facilities, friendly, helpful staff and a beautiful pool.
Hard to explain swimming under the night sky in a heated saltwater pool but I returned several times
The price (80ILS) for an all day pass and locker seems expensive at first but is well worth it
I really look forward to coming back to Tel Aviv to swim here again

I travel to Israel on a regular basis for work and I try to swim in this pool every day while in Tel Aviv.
I cannot speak highly enough about this pool. Great location - perfect water temperate - I see them drain and fill it every night from my hotel. Lanes are wide enough to pass other swimmers and are clearly marked for different paced swimmers.
I am back in tel Aviv next week and can't wait to swim here again to continue my training for the English Channel 🏊🏻

If you just want a break from the sea and go for a swim is this the perfect place.
Great swimming pool and always good music.
There’s a place for kids to play and the big pool for swimming only.
Next to the pool is a great restaurant directly located at the bay.

Around 65 Shekels and is worth it if you would rather be at a pool instead of the beach. Very clean, good quality loungers, plenty of covered areas - including parasols over two lanes in the pool! It is a salt water pool so be warned, the temperature is bracing! Very refreshing when you get used to it though. The WiFi does not cover all seated areas (or any to be honest) and I would suggest choosing one of the restaurants. It was slow (but polite) service. The food was very uninspiring.

We found this place after been hugely disappointed with the pool at our hotel.
Gordans pool is by the marina on the sea front just before the Hilton.
entrance costs about £14 per day per person but for that you get full unlimited daily acess to the 2 pools, sunbeds and changing rooms and showers.
facilities are almost new and very clean and tidy.
A diffrent option to sitting on the beach.

Swimming in the Gordon Pool is one of the best parts of a visit to Tel Aviv. I love to swim laps in the cold water surrounded by all kinds of local legends. Mornings the pool is crowded, especially on the weekends. Swimmers are more morning people, plus those who want to avoid the sun will come before ten.
For the most part people sort themselves out pretty well. There are signs designating where different speeds of swimmers should go. Of course, there is always some slow guy who thinks he is fast or some lane hog who can't swim well (and not well with others at all) who needs to be passed, but with 50m, it works out. Over the years the pool has come to attract more triathletes, so a different more savvy crowd.
Save some time afterwards for people watching. It is a big, public pool so it attracts all kinds: families, local celebrities, tourists, the very good looking, the very old, folks in strange outfits.

I had such a great time in this outdoor lightly salt-water pool in 2012 that I made a special point to return this year. Open 7 days, one day adult admission about $15, there are 3 or 4 areas for swimming especially a multi-lane huge space. Many many chairs with umbrellas, the restaurant next door (you can leave and return) had terrific salads and drinks. New York has nothing like this! Saturday is supercrowded, I guess because nothing else is open, but you can always find room.

Gordon pool's water comes from underground and is always cool, even in midsummer when the sea and most other pools are as warm as bathwater, so it is always refreshing. The complex is clean and newly renovated with new bathhouses and a nice cafe outside (not kosher) and a stand inside that sells snacks, drinks, ice cream, and cut fruit.
The complex has three pools. The main olympic sized pool tends to be overtaken by lap swimmers, many of whom are very serious about their sport. As a result, this pool may be entirely inaccessible to leisure swimmers, especially on weekends. Leisure swimmers get relegated to the much smaller family pool (1 meter to 1.5 meter depth) and the kiddie pool (half meter), which makes the price you pay a little excessive unless you're a serious lap swimmer.
In addition, the pool complex is unfortunately located below a seedy run-down plaza which makes access difficult and unpleasant unless you approach from down the beach.
I would recommend it if you really want cool water, or on an off time when it is not crowded, or if you're a lap swimmer. Not worth the money for a family on shabbat.

Hi!
The pool looks lovely!! My 13 yr old daughter, my husband and I all love a good salt water pool. We are not "serious" swimmers but would definitely like to swim in the large pool. Will we be forced to swim in the family pool as a previous pool user mentioned?
Also we'll be in tel -aviv the last 2 weeks of july. We have some flexibility- what is the best day/time so as to avoid the crowds (obviously not shabbat).
Is there a time limit for lanes so everyone gets a chance ( keep a list/sign up board?)
thanks! Nicole

The pool is less crowded in the afternoon during the week. More crowded in the mornings (before about ten) and on weekends. It might be less crowded in the evening, I have never been then.
I don't think you will necessarily be forced to swim in the family pool. There are four lap swim lanes (I think, going from memory), one for fast people with fins and/or paddles, one for fast swimmers, one for medium, and one for slow. You would probably be welcome in the slow or medium swimmer lane, depending on how quickly you are moving. There are some pretty creative swim styles on display in the slow/medium lanes. Just stay to the right and circle swim and let anyone faster than you pass. FWIW the fast lane isn't always so fast. About 2:00m/100m is fast enough. Sometimes there are faster people, sometimes slower than that. The fast lane swimmers do tend to be the people who know how to share a lane, though.
No time limit. There was a woman training for a channel swim when I was there last and she was swimming up to 10K at a time! People just sort themselves out. If you have fins/paddles, you might get moved to the far left lane.
There are a few 40m lanes to the far left that seem to be slower moving and perhaps even accommodate water walkers/aquacisers.

Hello Ella - I see that you have been to the Gordon center pool during the month of January. My daughter and I (each competitive swimmers) want to take advantage of open lap swim times during our stay in the area in December. I looked at the website and it is written only in Hebrew. I can read it but have no idea what it is saying. Can you tell me what you know about the hours of operation, when and who can swim there and any other details I might want to know. Toda Raba - DP

I am a paraplegic and use a manual wheelchair.I will be in Israel for a month this winter. Do you have wheelchair access? Is there a pool lift? Are the locker rooms wheelchair accessible? Is there a shower bench? Can I buy a monthly pass?

Can you bring swim aids to use with you? (Fins, pull buoy, paddles)
Is there a time of day when it is less crowded in mid March? I'll be hoping to follow a lot of drills so don't want to upset other swimmers

To answer my own question and in case anyone else is interested;
Yes, you can take swim aids with you but try to use an appropriate lane. I was directed to one of the empty 40m lanes when swimming with fins. No problem for me at all. Excellent pool
