The museum about the Jewish resistance group Etzel, or outside Israel better known as Irgun is just on the beach, between Tel Aviv and Old Jaffa. Irgun was the resistance group lead by Menachem begin and competing, later cooperating with the Hagana. The museum is an excellent location to visit if you walk on the beach to Old Jaffa. Additionally the histrory presented there is very much about the fight for Jaffa and Tel Aviv in 1948, so it will provide some explanations about why Jaffa and surrounding neighbourhood looks like it is today. You will find a lot of original remnants from the fight in 1948 and excellent explanations also in English.

This small museum tells the story of the taking of the nearby city of Jaffa in Israel's War of Independence by the fighters of the Etzel or Irgun, a Jewish group led by the late Menachem Begin (who later became Prime Minster of Israel). The complete story of the Etzel is told in another museum in a different part of the city.
The story is interesting, but the legends on many of the displays are difficult to read. To me, the most interesting information was a small map showing the area involved, including Arab villages that had been sniping at and attacking the city of Tel Aviv.

was great! I dont know why this doesnt have many more ratings. I also dont know why a reviewer wrote that its not "english friendly" . Myself and my wife and 3 children all thoroughly enjoyed the audio tour which was in English, a great exhibit with great little stories to go along would def recommend to all!

I don't think I have ever visited a museum dedicated to celebrating terrorism; this was the most bizarre museum ever. Palestine has been expunged from history - I was totally shocked. Still on the plus side, it is by the beach which was lovely and a short walk up from Jaffa and I was only one of 4 or 5 visitors so hopefully very few people will go and it will close.

Knowing virtually nothing about Israeli history, we happened across this museum and thought we'd give it a try. It took a lot of effort to even understand the basic history being presented, and we never were able to decipher many of the exhibits, especially the maps showing different boundaries over time.
It really seems like the museum is aimed at someone who grew up in Israel and knows the events and their connection to the nation's overall history. Also, although much is translated into English, not everything is.

There were numerous political parties in Israel at the time of independence, many with their own perspectives of who was preventing freedom, and was continuing to imprison in concentration camps the remnant from Hitler's death camps. One of these groups was the Irgun This small museum near the Tel Aviv beach near Jaffa tells the less known story of the Irgun, and more about Menachem Begin. It doesn't take more than 90 minutes or so, but it fills a vital part of the commentary about the 1947-48 War of Independence. Keep an open mind, but please visit this incredible jewel.

I liked the museum, but there wasn't much to see to be honest, the museum is tiny, and some of the exhibits shown are only in Hebrew (or only have an English label but the exhibit, like a letter is all in Hebrew), which made it harder for me (my Hebrew is rather poor).
I already knew a lot about Etzel before coming to visit the museum, but I imagine if you have no prior knowledge of Etzel or groups that fought for independence, you may be a bit lost.
