We recently had a wonderful tour of wineries in the Judean Hills, led by Barak Yitzhaki of Israel Wine Tours. Unlike many California wine tastings where you stand at the bar and just drink several wine pours, this tour was done in a relaxed yet professional manner. We went to 3 wineries, met and spoke with the wine makers, sat down and sampled their wines accompanied by appropriate bread, olive and cheese snacks and an informative commentary by Barak and the winery managers. Our takeaway was that this region produces delicious wines, different from the mass-produced ones found in U.S. supermarkets. Barak’s enthusiastic personality and knowledge of the Israeli wine industry made this a remarkable day. If the Knesset ever adds another cabinet position, we’d recommend him as the Wine Minister of Israel!

On my first trip to Israel 8 years, my boyfriend and I went on a tour with Barak in the Judaen Hills region and immediately booked another one, where he took us to wineries and a brewery in the Carmel region. On my mom's first time to Israel last month, I booked two more wine tours with Barak. We are wine people and I knew she would enjoy the experience after a week of touring historical and religious sites all over the country.
Barak is so knowledgeable about the wine culture in Israel, its evolution over the last 2,000+ years, and will only introduce you to the very best boutique wineries. It's clear that he has strong relationships with these winemakers and everyone embraced us like we were welcomed guests.
I cannot say enough about the quality of wine we tasted (and have purchased!), the enjoyable, relaxed experience of each tour, and how we really got to know the winemakers, their families and staff. While sipping on their wines, we learning about each of them, how they got into the industry, their approaches to making wine, their challenges, passions, etc. etc.
Even if you have no idea about the wine regions in Israel, let Barak know what you're interested in, what types of wines you prefer, and what types of things you'd like to see or sample, and he'll create a custom tour that you will definitely not regret!

Started off by Barak (our tour guide) picking us up at the hotel, 08:45 sharply on time. Communication prior to, during and post the tour was fantastic. We drive through the Judean hills and Barak warmly talked about the history of the area and the Wineries. We visited 3 wineries, each one offered an generously exquisite glass of white, rose and red. Barak has evidently put in a lot of time and effort researching and choosing these wineries, all of which had a unique homely feel run by pleasant professionals. It was a pleasure experiencing this wine tour, Barak was extremely friendly and knowledgable throughout the tour. We were limited on local currency so he kindly accommodated a secure online payment. Highly recommend and look forward to coming back for another tour!

We had the best time touring wineries with Barak and learning so many things we didn't know about wine in general and wine in Israel specifically. We booked the tour for a wedding anniversary, and Barak did a fantastic job inquiring about our interests and tailoring the tour to our specific needs.
We tasted fabulous wines, met many interesting folks at the different vineyards, and in general enjoyed the day with Barak. I highly recommend him as a tour guide, he is knowledgeable, friendly, and attuned to the needs of his guests. As we did not end the tour at home, he even went as far as taking our purchased wine with him and making a special delivery to our house when we came back.
In short - a great day with fantastic wine and a wonderful guide. We are definitely doing this again.

After a wine tasting event in Los Angeles years ago, I decided if I ever made it to Israel, I needed to seek out the wine. Some Googling (and Tripadivsor reviews!) helped me settle on Israel Wine Tour. So VERY glad we chose them!
Barak was super helpful via email during the booking process. He helped me decide on a tour of the Judean Hills while relocating from Jerusalem to Tel Aviv. We also decided to substitute in a tasting at a goat cheese farm.
His brother Alon, the founder of IWT, was our guide for the day and he was marvelous! Prompt and friendly, he let us know that the tour would be wine school on wheels. It truly was. We got a lot of historical info on wine-making in Israel, and also had some great conversations about wine in California (where two of our group have lived). He has built a wonderful network of connections, basically allowing his clients to receive VIP experiences. He was also just as excited as we were to be trying new wines at our stops, and that enthusiasm really adds to the experience.
Alon really went above and beyond for us, and I would love to be under his tutelage again on a future visit!

Following the COVID-19 lock down, I was looking for a fun outdoorsy activity for my wife's birthday (as long as we have the option). We had some very enjoyable wine and food related tours during vacations in the past so I was looking for a similar activity locally. I booked Israel Wine Tour after reading the recommendations on site and am please to say that they lived up to the expectations! Barak came to pick us up in the morning and took us on an interesting, tasty and fun tour of the Judean Hills wine region. It was just the 3 of us, so we had a very intimate and personalized tour. Barak is very knowledgeable, nice and tried to answer all of our questions regarding the industry. We tasted over a dozen wines from an interesting variety of wineries. We had a brilliant experience and my wife was thrilled to the point where we are already planning our next tour with friends to a different wine region in the country,.
Highly recommend!!!

Barak picked us up from our hotel in Tel Aviv in an air conditioned luxury SUV. We had been in contact before our trip, and were given the opportunity to custom design our itinerary. Barak was extremely knowledgeable, & personable, and we enjoyed spending time with him, We had been on many tours in Israel previously, but felt that Barak added immensely to our knowledge. He obviously loves what he does, and imparts his knowledge of the wine industry and winemaking in Israel, as well as the history of Israel. We can’t wait to go back, and will certainly book Barak when we do 🍷

I chose Israel Wine Tour because of their engagement during my research process when I was planning our trip. Barak was very responsive, informative, and patient with my questions. Alon was our tour guide for the day of the tour and like his brother, Barak, outstanding. The wineries we visited were Boutique Wineries, each affording an opportunity to meet with their founders and/or staff and learn the story behind their wine making, each with their unique setting and wine history, Along the way Alon stopped at a few sites of interest and shared the background of the development of Israel Wine country. The day was educational, sociable and enjoyable! I would strongly recommend Barak and Alon, and encourage you to explore their touring services beyond Israel Wine country.

We had a terrific day with Barak and learned so much about Israeli winemaking and the history of the Judean hills region. He communicated with us before the tour, asked us what kinds of wines we liked, and planned the day accordingly. We got to meet several winemakers - they made us feel at home and we enjoyed hearing their unique stories. The wines were superb and the tastings were accompanied by super tasty cheese and charcuterie plates. At the end of the tour, Bark showed us an archeological site and wine press. He is a highly knowledgeable guide, on top of his game, and totally prepared to make sure everything is perfect for his guests. It was a hot day but the SUV was air conditioned and he had cold water ready in the cooler. Our only regret is that we could not easily ship more of the delicious wine we tasted back to the states. Next time!

Had a great time with Barak! He provided us great facts about the winery stories, certain landmarks we passed, and the wines themselves- not to mention he’s a very smooth driver! Each winery was beautiful and had amazing cheese, bread, dips etc. I definitely plan on more going on tours with Israel Wine Tours in the future :)

Visiting Tel Aviv in May. Would like wine and cheese and other regional cuisine. I see a lot of talk about the judean hills. Please elaborate on the area and what it offers. Is this a good visit from Tel Aviv?
Barak Y
Tel Aviv, Israel12 contributions
Absolutely. Kim Marcus, the Managing Editor of Wine Spectator called it " the one distinct wine region in Israel on account of the spice" he of course is talking about the wines that come from the Judean Hills. We would add that there are superb restaurants there , goat cheese farms, microbreweries. This is a region with over 40 wineries and is an hour away from Tel Aviv. Do check out our website and blog for more info!

It was recommended that we do a tasting at Pelter winery and that they are open on a Saturday. Plus, they also have a distillery and a cafe and we could spend the day there. Do you take people to wine tastings on a Saturday from Tel Aviv? What do you charge?

Hi Emily,
Absolutley, There are Kosher wineries in every region and in the Judean Hills there are more than 20 Kosher wineries alone! In order to offer an ideal itinerary and quote, we would need to know how many guests in the group and what city we would be picking you up from. Please email us directly. We are easy to find if you search for our name . We will be happy to be at your service.
