Saint Peter Church is a historic Catholic Church that dates from the 17th century. It is built in neo-Baroque style; it is well worth visiting. Saint Peter Church is a functioning Catholic Church. It has several interesting features. The Altar faces West, which is unusual. The Church also commemorates Peter's miracle, when he raised Tabitha from the dead. A painting illustrates Peter's vision, which caused him to reject the Jewish dietary laws. This made Christianity more acceptable to non-Jews. By the way the Church does not permit the lighting of candles.

This pretty Catholic Church with its tall belfry is a well-known Jaffa landmark. Built over a medieval citadel, a church dedicated to Saint Peter has stood here since 1654. Destroyed and rebuilt several times, the current structure dates to 1894. The outside of the church is rather simple, so what a surprise to find a pastel-hued interior, with marble columns, high vaulted ceilings and beautiful stained glass. There is also an unusual wooden pulpit carved in the shape of a fruiting tree. Most Catholic churches face east; St Peter’s faces west toward the sea (over which Peter’s famous vision occurred), and toward Rome (as Peter was the first Pope of the Church). We were blessed to enter the church just as Mass was starting for another group of pilgrims.

Built in 1654, this beautiful cathedral recognizes the miracle of St. Peter reviving Tabitha from death, as well as Peter's relevance to Ancient Jaffa. The prominent bell tower stands as a focal point in Jaffa, a significant city to both Jews and Christian Gentiles. The church stands as a highlight of the many surrounding significant sites of Jaffa.

The Chuch is the largest building in Jaffa. I did not know what to expect when entering the Monastery. When I went in I was pleasantly surprised. It had beautiful stained glass windows and four magnificent panels showing the life of Saint Peter. It's a Franciscan Church and it,s thought to be were Saint Peter raised Tabitha from the dead

Very good looking Church, beautiful area around it. Lovely view on the Mediterranean sea. Inside, the Church is simple and nice, but I spent more time outside, enjoying the views.

St. Peter's commemorates two biblical events: (1) the raising of Tabitha by Peter; and (2) the vision by Peter which helped him to realize that the gentiles should be allowed into the church. Both events took place in Jaffa, which was the biblical Joppa. The monastery sits on top of a crusader castle which was used by King Louis IX, Richard the Lionheart and Napoleon. Parts of the castle still exist. We were invited into the monastery by Father Angelo and allowed to see the old castle walls, a statue of King Louis IX and a meeting room of the Franciscans. It was an amazing experience. The church is usually only open some days from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., but we got lucky and got a special tour.

The church is not big, but it's beautiful inside. It's much beautiful especially at night with some characteristic. The current church was completed from the Crusaders times. Nearby the church, in the old city Jaffa filled with craft, gifts shops, art galleries, umbrella also souvenirs stalls selling antiques at the flea market. Thanks to local tour guides in Israel, this vacation were absolutely superb.

St. Peter's Church in Old Jaffa has a commanding view of the sea and is interesting to view from the outside. I visited the area in early afternoon, and there was not indication of how to get inside the church to view its furnishings.

This church is well worth a visit. Everyone is made feel welcome and I was fortunate enough to be able to attend mass at 7.00 pm on a Sunday evening while admiring the lovely interior of the church.

I was able to spend a few days in Jaffa over a weekend. I had the lovely opportunity to attend the English 0900 am mass on Sunday. Additionally, this church provides insight into the important biblical references of Peter having first vision to evangelize the gentiles, as well as doing a miracle of raising Tabitha from the dead. I found it interesting. You can spend 10 minutes in the church or over an hour if attending the mass.
