Beautiful 1654 Cathedral
Dec 2019
Built in 1654, this beautiful cathedral recognizes the miracle of St. Peter reviving Tabitha from death, as well as Peter's relevance to Ancient Jaffa. The prominent bell tower stands as a focal point in Jaffa, a significant city to both Jews and Christian Gentiles. The church stands as a highlight of the many surrounding significant sites of Jaffa.

Key Landmark in Jaffa
Dec 2019 • Solo
Dedicated to Saint Peter, this is a must visit when in Jaffa and can be traced back to the 1600s. It is not a very big church but is beautifully furnished.

In The Area - Don,t Miss
Nov 2019
The Chuch is the largest building in Jaffa. I did not know what to expect when entering the Monastery. When I went in I was pleasantly surprised. It had beautiful stained glass windows and four magnificent panels showing the life of Saint Peter. It's a Franciscan Church and it,s thought to be were Saint Peter raised Tabitha from the dead

Probably more interesting outside than inside
Jan 2020
St. Peter’s Church placement and its façade makes it charming. Probably it is more interesting outside than inside, anyhow if you walk by it and you go in, you’ll not regret. Enjoy!

Jaffa Landmark
Jan 2020
This pretty Catholic Church with its tall belfry is a well-known Jaffa landmark. Built over a medieval citadel, a church dedicated to Saint Peter has stood here since 1654. Destroyed and rebuilt several times, the current structure dates to 1894. The outside of the church is rather simple, so what a surprise to find a pastel-hued interior, with marble columns, high vaulted ceilings and beautiful stained glass. There is also an unusual wooden pulpit carved in the shape of a fruiting tree. Most Catholic churches face east; St Peter’s faces west toward the sea (over which Peter’s famous vision occurred), and toward Rome (as Peter was the first Pope of the Church). We were blessed to enter the church just as Mass was starting for another group of pilgrims.

Very good looking Church, beautiful area around it. Lovely view on the Mediterranean sea. Inside, the Church is simple and nice, but I spent more time outside, enjoying the views.

Church of St. Peter in Jaffa, called for centuries
Oct 2019
The church is not big, but it's beautiful inside. It's much beautiful especially at night with some characteristic. The current church was completed from the Crusaders times. Nearby the church, in the old city Jaffa filled with craft, gifts shops, art galleries, umbrella also souvenirs stalls selling antiques at the flea market. Thanks to local tour guides in Israel, this vacation were absolutely superb.

St Peters Church.
Very close to HaPisga Garden and Wishing Bridge on can see large and impressive church with a bell tower. This is St Peters Church. It is easily the largest and best maintained building in Old Jaffa.
This Franciscan church was built over a citadel built by Fredrick I. The work was completed in 1894 and renovated in 1903. The church commemorates the visit and miracle of St Peter in Jaffa. May be because of this the church, unlike majority of Churches which face East this church faces west towards the sea because that is where Peter's vision appeared.
The interior with its high ceiling, stained glass windows and marble walls are quite similar to churches of Europe.
Interior is very peaceful, beautifully done up.
The pulpit is of unusual life like tree design. Thick tree trunk base and very leafy fruit laden canopy over the pulpit.
Outside grounds are also not neglected and have been beautified with ancient canon and sculptures.
Immensely enjoyed the visit.
