My wife and I had a delightful Saturday afternoon at the museum . We were surprised by the quality and the quantity of the European paintings , mostly modern. The special exhibits were great . The building is huge and modern. We were not at all crowded as one is in the US or European museums.

I cannot understand the rave reviews for this place unless everyone else likes terrible contemporary art. The permanent collection is OK but I’ve seen much better impressionist and post impressionist art elsewhere. I mean, I liked some pieces but overall so not worth the 50 (!!) shekels per person

My friends said "I feel dead inside after this horror show". I'm not much of a museum person, so my expectations were low, but wow, this was bleak. A lot of bare walls (maybe that was a plus) and the art that was there often had us scratching our heads and asking "What?" and ""Why?".

The building itself is architectural art. The use of concrete and the layout of the museum are great. And of course, the Liechtenstein is also well integrated.
I was surprised of the number of painters and sculpturers that I know, because I don't know much about art. We enjoyed this!

On a rainy day you can't do anything better than wander the halls of this collection of Museums, with contemporary and classical art. If you like 20th century art you might find that many key works of Picasso, Chagall, Miro, Cezanne and many others are right here in Tel Aviv. Also changing exhibits of contemporary art. Rich, metropolitan high culture, with some of the finest art collections on exhibit.

Set in two linked buildings, this museum has plenty of art to see. Classical and modern art sit along with installations and some very good temporary exhibitions. At the moment, there is a very good collection of scientific drawings from descriptions of fruit. The new building is a very quirky architectural marvel with aspects that change as one walks around. Worth a visit for this alone. We spent three hours there.

We spent nearly 3 hours at this museum which features a great collection of impressionist and post impressionist painters.
We were quite amazed by the number and quality of the paintings : Monet, Renoir, Pissaro, Van Gogh, Gauguin, Degas, Picasso...
The permanent collection of Israeli moden art is also quite interesting, along with the architecture of the museum and the temporary exhibitions.
There is also a cafe, with a great garden where you can have your snack , salad or pizza basking in the sun in spring or summer.

Rude staff. Uncaring, and distracted. No one knows anything about the museums Unless it relates to their particular job... really rotten staff. The act as if the are all suffering and unhappy... sour faces abound.

This is undoubtedly a world class art gallery. They have some amazing pieces and it is worth a visit. However, I felt so let down by the attitude of the staff. From the security guard who totally ignored me and didn't stop a heated discussion he was having with an acquaintance. Next, the ticket seller who barely lifted his head to acknowledge me. Next, the information desk ladies who patronised me when I asked for a suggestion on the route to take around the buildings. Next the two girls on the other ticket desk who really didn't want to help me find my way back to my hotel. Not one person smiled at me. However, the young men in the two cafes were helpful and took the edge off an unhappy long anticipated visit and nearly smiled.

A deep plunge in the art of TEL AVIV Museum of Art: the section dedicated to impressionists and post-impressionism is stunning. The monographic exhibition of the red wax man, a discovery. Also the building itself is full of symbols and reminders to the hystory of the Country. Recommemded

Written October 24, 2019

Written November 16, 2016
