Tal led us on an authentic experience of culture and food tasting. We have done a couple of food tastings when we visit new places, this was the best! Highly recommend booking a tour with Tal, what a great way to experience the destination in the same way as the locals!

Very informative. Tal was great. She really gets into the history of the market and how the food evolved. If you’re a foodie, this is a must.

We recently visited Tel Aviv (November 2022) on a wider trip (which the food tour was part of). Fortunately, Tal was our guide for the 4 days we spent in Tel Aviv. I would like to start by saying that Tal was fantastic! Tal clearly knows her history of Tel Aviv (and wider Israel) she was incredibly friendly and happy to answer all questions we had.

The food tour is truly a unique experience! Israel is a foodie capital, the markets are full of stalls selling delicious dishes (both sweet and savoury). It can feel slightly overwhelming (where do you start? What do you have first). It is therefore, best to sign up for a food tour and have a local take you around. We definitely felt that we received good value for money (by the end of the tour we felt so full). Tal knows the local vendors and took us to the best stalls. The portions were large (some of us could not finish everything served!). Tal also checks that everyone is full- so no one is left hungry!

I would highly recommend the roti wraps (with egg filling)- they were the highlight of our trip! I will definitely, sign up for this tour again on my next trip to TA!

We had a great food tour with Tal. First of all, she is a wonderful person and she really wants her customers to have an enjoyable experience. On our tour was my wife and I and just 3 other people. As far as the food/drink is concerned, she really showed us an amazing array of places and foods we would have NEVER tried on our own. I would say ever place was delicious. We went to a couple Yemenite places (a bakery and a restaurant where we have a delicious soup) -- we would have never found these places or ever had any idea what to order. She gave nice history of the neighborhoods of Tel Aviv and we had a really great time with her. I would recommend Tal's food tour highly.

I've done these before and often it is simply tasting food in the local hidden spots, a great time. However, Tal brings things to the next level. She is a local of Tel Aviv who is clearly passionate about what she is doing and about her city. The tour begins with a delicious juice and a short walk. During this time Tal will educate you about Tel Aviv and its people. This is an important aspect of the tour because it will allow you to understand the food and the people behind it. With all the different cultures in Tel Aviv it is important to know the story behind things, including the food!

After your walk, which ends at a local bread shop to taste fresh local bread, the food really begins! You will sample falafel, fish sandwiches, spices and fruit, local cocktails, pits sandwiches from Panda Pita ( OMG Amazing!) and more. The falafel we tried is the best we have tasted anywhere in Israel.

If you have the time this tour is definitely worth the money. The experience with Tal is a memory that will last you a lifetime, seriously.

Tal, aka Loca Local :), opened the doors to her place for a cooking class beginning of January 2020 (we took only the cooking class, without the market tour).

The place was easily reachable from one of the main avenues in Tel Aviv, and was very cosy. She made us feel comfortable right away.

We spent a few hours preparing the falafel, babaganoush, and the different salads. She explained the recipes very very well, even providing a little bit of background (historical, biological and even personal) for small elements here and there during the cooking. She knew when to let us intervene, and when to intervene.

Tal was very lively and a good conversationalist. It was a pleasure to share the delicious meal we've prepared together with her!

If you want real local taste, a real local conversation, don't hesitate to contact the Local Loca ;)

I'm no foodie but I had one of the best experiences today that I've had in years. I joined Tal's Loca Local tour for a wonderful few hours of learning, conversation, cookery and conversation - and I left feeling sated and inspired.

Tal takes you firstly on a tour of Tel Aviv’s ‘Kerem’ aka the Yemenite Quarter. She knows so much about the area, and people in the neighbourhood greet her as she walks by, so you realise she’s the real deal. We visited a juice bar, Shlomo & Doron’s hummus joint and a local family bakery, before wandering in the Carmel fruit and veg market to pick up a few more provisions for our cooking adventure.

Back at Tal’s home (comfortable, stylish, inviting), we were all given aprons and set about preparing a typical Mediterranean lunch - home-made tahini, two kinds of aubergine, roasted peppers, taboullah salad and - la piece de resistance - crispy falafel balls.

I’ve never actually made much of this before, myself, but not only was it fun but she made me see how easy it was!. What could be better then, afterwards, than to sit down with my fellow tour participants and tuck in. We drank wine, ate our own food and then were offered mint tea, tahini cookies and the traditional Middle Eastern dessert malabi (with a choice of toppings!)

This is really a ‘food market to table’ experience with a warm, knowledgable local and I could not recommend it more highly. Book this tour - you will not regret it!
