This was a nice, comprehensive visit to some of the popular sites in the Old City. We stopped at a number of sites on the Via Dolorosa that pertain more to Catholic or Orthodox theological history than Protestant (be aware of that, but some of those sites still have lovely buildings and art). This tour is like most others of the sort, starting out on the Mt. of Olives, then making your way through the Old City up to the Jaffa Gate where it ends.

Curiously, the "Footsteps of Jesus" tour didn't make a stop to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, the most venerated Christian sites (however that time of day they're usually crowded anyway, so I didn't miss them, I simply went back on my own in the early morning, before the crowds.

Dan (Porges) is a good guide. He has a lot of knowledge about the sites and context surrounding it. He has a good nature and loves to guide, which is #1 to me as a quality for a guide. He definitely enjoys sharing his experiences. His selection for lunch was pretty good, too.

One thing I liked about him is that, as a history/archaeology ex-faculty, I was keen to see if he would just give a rubber-stamp tour of the main traditional pilgrim sites without considering the best/most recent archaeology. But I was impressed that he would tell you that these are traditional sites in some cases, but doubtful as to their real validity here or there, which lines up with the best scholarship. I really found that part of his narrative excellent, that he tried to put these things into likely historical relevance without diminishing their relevance as treasured pilgrimage stops (even if some of the places are no more than guesses). I appreciate accurate history.

I'd recommend Dan and this tour - just be aware that the Holy Sepulchre is not a part of this one.

We're glad you enjoyed the tour with Dan as your guide. It's great to know that Dan's knowledge and enthusiasm resonated with you. We appreciate your understanding about the Church of the Holy Sepulchre not being part of the "Footsteps of Jesus Tour," and we're pleased you had the chance to visit it independently. We're grateful for your recommendation and look forward to welcoming you again in the future.

I joined a 10 day tour with Bein Harim, each tour guide has varied wildly in their approach. On three occasions the return hotel drop off was a “this is close enough” approach. Usually it’s reasonably close, however after a 10km walking tour, being asked to walk to the hotel another 25mins stretched our limits and left us sore. So be prepared drop offs are the exception not the rule. Similarly, the hotels have been hit or miss. The Grand Court Hotel in Jerusalem was very average, very lazy and inattentive staff. BY14 in TelAviv was similar to a lesser degree. The Pearl in TelAviv had great staff and good rooms. Try and get this one if youre on multi day tour. The guides vary from professional, to checklist style robotic however all have been knowledgeable and helpful. I’d like to highlight two guides as standouts, firstly Lorne, who is a sarcastic witty gem. Very refreshing. He dealt with difficult guests and suppliers all while running a large group tour and adding in extra stops off the itinerary. Secondly, Ami. Wow this guy. Definitely the highlight of the 10 days. His passion really shined through. He was engaging and always smiling. He made the tour feel personal despite it being a group. He was gracious and went out of his way for any request. None of it felt like a checklist. Cannot recommend this guy enough. People on the bus were asking how to review him and he wasn’t sure, so hopefully this reaches the people it needs to reach. Good on you Ami, you left our whole experience on a positive note!

Firstly thanks; so much for sharing in detail, for others, and for the raves about guides Lorne and Ami. They will get to see this as well as we will let them know! They both certainly deserve such favorable feedback. for their efforts, passion, and knowledge, Hotels choices and range, is what there is and within the budget of such a tour. Sorry that drivers are not dropping you closer to the hotel, very often to do with traffic and closures that thereafter can cause major delays, It is an issue, and we are aware of this. Glad you came away having seen a lot and more with great experiences with some of our guides

Hava Dorany was a great guide. Always a smile, very knowledgeabl. I did the Masada and Dead Sea toure with her.
Everything was organized (time at each location, shop visits and lunch break). This was perfect for me, but I understand of some people might feel it a bit "forced".

Expect high prices at the Dead Sea Resort for commonly skipped items, such as towels, flip-flops and the like. Be ready for a beach visit.

Thanks for sharing you came away satisfied. Yes, some travelers do require the lunch stop. We do list bring suitable items for the shoreside experience on the Dead Sea. So pleased you enjoyed Hava's guidance and skilled tour management.

We paid €88 per person for a day in Nazareth where we have more time on the bus than in historical monuments. We stop you in the stores to make you buy. The guide becomes a real salesman when you walk through the door. The tour does not include lunch, so we have to pay, but we are forced to have a restaurant. I wonder where the money goes? I made a visit with their competitor for less, lunch is included in a restaurant with an all-you-can-eat buffet. I think it's a little exaggerated. Finally, we are asked for tips at the end of the tour. A little average, tips are at everyone's own will, we don't claim like that. A satisfied customer will give a tip of himself. Really pity, because the guides are very nice and know their subject well. A little too "business" and not culturally enough. Religion. is not a money machine

Dear Alice, am regretful to read that this was the nature of your tour experience. There is a shop stop for those who don't have another opportunity to purchase gifts. It is not for everyone. Group tours include all aspects. Lunch cannot be all around, we arrange organized serving that caters to groups and tour schedules. You should NOT wonder about the money of the restaurant, it goes directly to the restaurant proprietor. Your innuendo is harmful and not justified! We are certainly not the owners of the restaurant and your innuendo is misleading! Agreed for sure that guides should certainly be more discreet regarding gratuity for their services. We will reiterate this for sure. As this platform shows our guides are highly professional and what you mention here is a bit out of keeping with their standards.

We purposely chose this tour because they promised pick up at OUR hotel (see attached 'what is included') and drop off at our next hotel in a different city (at an additional cost). Included in this extra charge was taking our luggage. When we confirmed with the tour company the day before our tour they said that they would not pick us up at our hotel. When I pointed out what I had in writing from them they told me 'too bad I could cancel if I didn't like it.' They then said that the pick up would be at a different hotel. This forced us to take a taxi at an additional cost to THEIR designated hotel. When we got to that hotel the guide then said we had to walk another 4 blocks with our luggage to yet another hotel. We were then taken to yet another place to get on a tiny bus that had no leg room and small seats and finally we were off. The tour itself was adequate. An hour was wasted taking us to a bogus stop in the middle of no where to see how olive oil creams are made. The tour guide gets a cut of every sale made and we were then told that we were having lunch there, at our cost of course, but since we were in the middle of no where there was no other place to go. Again a cut to the tour guide/tour company. At the end of the day the tour guide put 4 of us in a cab that he found to take us to Jerusalem. The taxi was barely adequate for 4 people with luggage and was certainly not comfortable or desirable. Avoid this tour company. There are better tour companies and better tours.

We are regretful that this was the nature of your experience. In fact, we do commit to drop off in the "other" city BUT not at the specific location. We do try our best though if this is possible, to the nearest location. A matter such as what you have raised has to be sorted out directly with the office. we certainly do send travelers back to certain locations in a cab at our expense So that a whole tour doesn't have to do such a drop.off route. It is a logistic constraint. Why are you surprised that lunch is your expense?? Nowhere do we advertise that meals are included in the tour price? Deserted regions have little to no choice where we can stop and let travelers have a meal... Sorry, you were so disappointed.

Visit to Masada and Dead Sea- A pleasant engaging guide but a little rushed. Mainly due to waiting for other people to join or drop off those in separate tours.
The guide / company are clearly paid to push you towards certain businesses. I hated the expensive over crowded lunch stop.
The push to go in a shop selling creams at the Dead Sea was unnecessary, would have preferred more time at the beach.
The bus revolted when he suggested a stop at a tourist shop on the way back to Jerusalem (well a couple dissented) so we didn’t- again more time at the Dead Sea rather than shopping!!!!
Masada is beautiful and the Dead Sea an experience- I recommend the tour but maybe try a different tour company.

We are sorry that you felt this experience was only average. We are certainly NOT not paid or pushed, but rather take what caters for groups, especially since Covid (many busineses didnt resume operations), therefore the choice of lunch stop is very very limited!in this deserted non urban region. Again the Dead Sea products are world famous, many people Do want to purchase items, and this is also a refreshements stop for those who exited tel Aviv 2 hrs before. Happy to know your guide was engaging and professional in commentary and service

I wouldn’t recommend this Nazareth, Tiberias and Sea of Galilee tour with BeinHarim.
First of all, the first stop in Nazareth wasn’t the beautiful Church of the Annunciation where we only had 45 minutes, but an overpriced souvenir shop where everything was the usual stuff you can get anywhere. And what left us speechless was what the guide Dan told everybody: “don’t waste my time (very polite!) going to other vendors who sell stuff made in China, the best souvenirs are here” and then we saw the same exact things everywhere around Jaffa in Tel Aviv the next day. But mainly, wasn’t that a waste of OUR PAIED TIME spending an hour in that shop?? We’ve also been forced to get in (the bus drops you in front of the entrance, and not knowing Nazareth you just follow what you are told) instead who wasn’t interested (like us) could have just walked the 350 meters that separated us from the Church of Annunciation and have an extra hour there.

We didn’t stop nor visit the Church of Cana, other big disappointment.

The stop in Tagba was ok (25 min).

The Capernaum stop was ridiculously short but time for a $ 25,00 pp + drinks lunch in again another obliged place wasn’t. And when you let the guide know you are not participating to this extra (we paid over 220 euros for this tour, for 2 adults) there was no consideration. Of course, he wouldn’t get a commission from it! Very unpolite and unprofessional behaviour. You have to give people the choice to where they wanna go and eat, as there was also a Pizza Hut and other places too. And respect who brought their own lunch (as on the tour schedule wasn’t mentioned nowhere that we would have gone somewhere for lunch).

But the worst part, was the last stop: a ridiculous fake baptism (for who wanted to do it, again extra charge) in a non sacred spot on the Jordan River, where even the bathrooms to pee needed a fee. The real place where Jesus was baptized and where also the Pope went is in Jordan, so has nothing to do with this. So from 12:30 that we left Capernaum in a hurry, the rest of the tour was completely a waste of time and money, as first we drove to the lunch place, then lunch, drive to this river and a super long stop for people wanting to get in the water, buying their own video of te so called “ceremony”, having to shower and dry. Ah and of course another shop to go through!! This tour was a complete rip off and I do not recommend it at all.

Dear Sir, we are most regretful that this was the nature of your tour experience. Worldwide shop stops are included in group tours. You joined a group tour where lunch is at one particular location. This is not an urban area therefore lunch places that can cater for groups are not many to choose from. It seems you have your own take on how things were and work. We operate this tour to the satisfaction of hundreds of travelers each week. We are most regretful that you came away with this kind of experience We are not responsible for the items sold or the goods stocked there or elsewhere around the country. Yardenit on the Jordan River!! is the ONLY location where Baptism takes place, for thousands of tourists, and daily. Not clear exactly what you were expecting. This is the route of the tour, and this sounds very much like a case of mixed expectations, Yardenit like many Christian locations has indeed made a tourist center here which includes Shops!! We are once again regretful that you came away disappointed. We do not rip anyone off!

The most excruciating 12 hours of my life. Constantly herded from one site to the other for photo ops (including a sub par tourist trap restaurant and souvenir shop) The sites we visited were extremely interesting but the commentary was poor to say the least. Our guide constant rambling meant that instead of pointing important cultural, architectural or historical facts we were left with personal (biased) opinions on trivial matters and jokes in very poor taste. Some of the guests were also mansplained aspects of their own cultures and on our way back we were subjected to further rambling on about the geopolitical and religious aspect of Israel with a racist output towards minorities. The bus couldn’t get me back to the hotel quick enough!

Most regret that this was the nature of your experience on a tour with Bein Hatim We will certainly get Danny to respond to what you have mentioned. What you describe is not the level of service we wish to provide. Sorry that this is what you went through. A guide can also be told /asked to refrain from the discourse that is slanted.

Went for two tours, got charged for 3! Later on they said they refunded it, later that they didn’t charged at all! I can clearly see 90$ disappeared from my account!

Tours themselves not worthy either! Most of the time you will spend changing buses and waiting for other people because they combine different groups and instead of going according to the plan and show as much as they can, they will spent time picking up and dropping people. Also the preference for them not showing you the places but make you spend as much as you can in the shops that they get commissions! (Tour to Bethlehem: they made us spend 40 mins in a shop and then said no time to see the Jesus star!)

Before booking the first tour, I discussed with the company the possibility to be dropped off in a different city. They said yes. After I booked the tour they stopped answering on messages! Later on appeared that they don’t have enough spaces in the bus and wanted me to go out and go to a city I didn’t need to go!

Extremely overpriced for what you get at the end! Very surprising to get such experience from one of the biggest tour companies!

Dear polina_farfallina, We're sorry to learn that this was the nature of your experience. Please rest assure that nobody is "robbing" you. Mistakes happen and you are taken care of. The refund is not visible right away, it can take up to a month, so please be patient. I invite you to contact our office by mail once again and attach your reservation number to make sure that we are aware of this mistake. Group tours involve logistics and complex executions that the individual traveler is not aware of. We offer private tours, where the customer is the master of his/her schedule and itinerary.

I enjoyed the depth of history Daniel shared on our tour. His stories were enjoyable to follow along; do come prepared to ask all the questions you have about the history and culture of Jerusalem! He also guided us really well through crowded situations, as there were multiple celebrations going on in the old city. My absolute favourite part of the Bible tour was to walk the mount of Olives; there you could really see a glimpse of what things have looked like 2000 years ago.
