Maria was a great guide and was very knowledgeable and pointed out all the important sites in Jaffa - stuff you could easily miss if you tried to do this on your own.
She kept the group entertained.
My only irk with this was that she peddled the suggested donation line and said if we weren't comfortable with making a donation we were free to leave and to let her know.
I know this is most likely Sandemans doing and telling her she has to say this.
If the donation is suggested at a fixed price then you shouldn't really offer the tour for free. If you want a donation, let the tourist decide how much.
Aside from that, it is highly recommended to do the tour.

My friends and I decided to go on the free tour of Old Jaffa that starts at the clock tower.
Hadar was a great tour guide. Bring some cash, because she earns the tip you should be giving her. She tells great stories and even builds the drama by hinting at some of the stories later in the tour. It's a nice walk and you get to see some lovely parts of Jaffa.

The best tour guide we have ever had. Her history lesson was great and easy to follow (Israel's history for dummies) she kept everyone enthralled. New Europe tours are the most professional we've had in our 3 years of travel.

I paid 10Euro for 2 confirmed spaces on the ‘free’ tour & the guide never arrived at the start point. We were there 15 minutes early - as were about 10 other people. We all joined a free Abraham tour that started 30 minutes later than our planned tour. It was great - I highly recommend Abraham Tours! Still waiting to see if Sandemans will reply to my email requesting a refund (although I will still lose money on the exchange fees on my credit card- thanks for nothing)

My husband and I did this tour after staying a few nights in Jaffa. We learned more on this tour than we did the entire first few days! Avi, our guide, was wonderful! So informative with an excellent personality. The tour lasts 2-2.5hrs and hits all the major points (in the city and in history). Highly recommend the tour and Avi especially!

Hadar was a great guide, explaining the history of Jaffa and good tips and tricks whilst in Tel aviv. Would recommend, and also she has a paypal so you can leave your tip without needing local cash!
Would recommend going alone or with a group, and it is about 2 and a half hours long. There was a toilet break and a good place to pick up food mid way. The only issue is that it is Jaffa that you see, not central Tel Aviv, though I don't believe that is as interesting as Jaffa!

The tour guide was excellent for this two hour tour of Old Jaffa. This is advertised as a free tour but that is slightly misleading. The tour guide is self employed and they work on a tips only basis. They explain this at the start of the tour and advise that the tip is up to you but the average is 50 Israeli Shekels. You pay at the end if you are satisfied. We certainly were and had no problem paying the tour guide. If you do not have much time in the city then this tour is worth trying.

After a recommendation from our hostel we did the free walking tour through Old Jaffa with Hadar. It was really the best. Hadar was a brilliant guide, giving both really good historic facts as well as interesting and funny stories. A good bit of sarcasm, a lot of information, but most of all a great 2h tour! Keep it up

This tour of Jaffa was fabulous. Our guide (whose name I have forgotten) was knowledgeable and funny and kept us on pace to finish in 21/2-3 hours. Her love of Jaffa was obvious and infectious. We fell in love with Jaffa and returned the following weekend. The history is fascinating and the atmosphere evokes small villages in Provence. Do not miss Jaffa!

Had a great tour led by Avi, lots of insight, historical facts and some less factual but incredibly fun! Avi is passionate and very knowledgeable, he took us to all the must sees of Old Jaffa, kept the tour interactive, and at the end left us with great reccomendations for spots we didn't have the opportunity to see during the tour. He also gave us indications on where to go for food, how to use public transport and other amazing places to visit in Israel.
5☆ well deserved!

Hi,
I'd like to inquire about the times for Tel Aviv Free Walking Tour. Somehow I remember there was a 5 PM tour, but now I only see 11 AM and 2 PM options. Because my family could only make it for the 5 PM one due to tight scheduling, wondering if there is still one at 5 PM. Thank you!
Best,
Sharon

¡Hola!
Roberto

Hi, what is the suggested tip for this tour?
Written December 20, 2017
The idea of “free walking tour” is that you have to tip your guide as you feel. Everywhere in Europe it’s up to you, but at least more then 5€. I found my tour guide at this tour saying aloud that we should tip her minimum 50 Israeli Shekel, which was really annoying, not because of money, but it’s inappropriate to their policy. Enjoy your tour, Jaffa is really amazing site to be at.

Hi all,
I am arriving in Tel Aviv on October 30th, would love to know where I can catch the free walking tour to Jerusalem with you. I have heard wonders about your team and I am excited to be able to experience it!
Warm regards,

Hi Jason,
Thanks for your question, and for your interest in our tours!
The Free Tour does include the Port of Jaffa, however, unfortunately, it does not include the flea market as part of the route.
However, it is not that far from the tour’s regular route, so if you wish to visit the market after the tour, simply inform your guide and they can tell you how to get there.
If you need to know anything else, please don’t hesitate to ask.
All the best,
Roberto

Hi Maya,
Unfortunately, I can't speak Hebrew, so I'll have to answer in English. I'm afraid our tours don't run in Hebrew either, just in English. However, the tours run every day - rain or shine -
including weekdays, weekends and holidays.
I hope you're still able to join us on the tour!
All the best,
Roberto
