About
Eat & Meet Jerusalem will take you on a private culinary tour in the Nachlaot neighborhood and Mahane Yehuda market, "The Shuk." At the market, we'll taste and pick the freshest ingredients for an exciting cooking class at my kitchen close by. Then, we will peel, slice, chop, grind, bake and fry a delicious and colorful feast of the local cuisine! The tour and workshop are run by a licensed tour guide and are meant for small, intimate groups of 2-8 participants.

Mum and I had the most lovely day with Yael, our guide. She gave an incredible and insightful tour through the market, getting us to try every sweet we could find, while also unpacking a lot of the history behind the wonderfully multicultural population of Jerusalem. We picked up all our ingredients, learning a little Hebrew on the way, and turned them into 7 amazing dishes at her home with many laughs along the way. An outstanding day that I would highly recommend to anyone visiting Jerusalem!

Yael was an amazing host from start to end. She was passionate and knowledgeable about the local produce and history in Jerusalem's market. Sampling the best products and then cooking up a feast at her apartment - what a real life learning experience!

We were so comfortable it felt like home. We didn't want to leave!

Anyone who is looking for a practical, fun, tasty and warm experience in Jerusalem - we can't recommend this enough!

Worth every penny xx

We had such a great time exploring the market stalls and learning to cook Israeli food with Omri. We had great conversations, learned a lot, and had lots of fun all around! Oh, and we were stuffed after eating what we had cooked, plus we got to take leftovers from what we cooked too, which was great. This was definitely the highlight of our tour through Israel, thanks again Omri! :)

We had a great time with Yaeli, first visiting the market, she knew everyone and shown us all the best spots with lots of samples to try.

Back at her home we met Yogi and cooked some amazing food! Lots of it new to me, being my first time inside both a Jewish and Israeli home, I felt very welcome and learnt so much.

Yaeli and Yogi are amazing hosts and make you feel like your visiting friends rather than a tour guide.

Our family of four including our 13 year old son and 15 year old daughter spent 6 days on the road touring Israel with the amazing Omri. From the first Skype chat planning the trip a few weeks in advance, Omri's very kind, thoughtful and warm manner was evident. He has extensive knowledge and understanding about the country, its rich history, the people and cultures that make Israel so unique and diverse. Omri mapped out 6 full days and nights from the north to the south with amazing experiences that we all thoroughly enjoyed. For the entire road trip he became part of our family and our experience was richer for it. His professionalism, care to detail and thoughtfulness of our needs were greatly appreciated by all. Omri was a great friend to the children and explained everything in a way that sparked their curiosity and captured their attention and imagination. We all learnt so much and thank him for the wonderful experiences, we could not recommend a warmer and more knowledgable tour guide.

A group of us traveled to Israel & 5 of us decided to do the market tour and cooking class with Yael. We had a great time! It was really interesting going around the market. Yael’s explanations of the food and people were fantastic.
We then went back to her home and met her husband and dog, and all chatted and laughed as she taught us to cook some fabulous dishes!
We were all so impressed with the falafels that we had just made that we went out and bought falafel makers to take home!
It is a really friendly, easy, fun and inclusive experience!

We had the best day with Yael. First stop market tour of Machane Yehuda market. Learning all about the cultural references in the foods , spices and produce available at the market and meeting Yael’s
favorite vendors. Then cooking with Yael to make a delicious Israeli meal at her home. We enjoyed talking with her husband, meeting her dog, walking her neighborhood and then eating our meal.
Can’t recommend this experience enough. Very fun and meaningful.

Our family of 5 had the greatest time with Yael and Yogi! Eating and shopping through the shuk, and then cooking and eating together was great! They even found ways to engage our 4 year old!!
At the end of the experience you get copies of the recipes, and we are enjoying trying to recreate the food at home.
Thank you!!

We have taken many cooking classes and cooking tours around the world. This one was amazing thanks to Yael ! She is both a fantastic guide and hostess. We loved the way she Knew all the secrets of the market. You can also see the wonderful way the merchants loved her. We especially enjoyed the relaxed way she shared her home and kitchen with us ! Great afternoon great fun Thank you Yael!

Yael took us to the market and we sampled tahini, halva, various spice mixtures, olives, and cheeses We returned to her apartment with our groceries and prepared a scrumptious lunch of shakshuka, falafels turkish burekitas, tabbouleh with cauliflower, and hummus. It's a vegetarian menu and you don't miss the meat. It's a great way to learn about the melting pot of Israeli cooking and about the local people. Now I have a better understanding of the Mediterranean diet and its ingredients. Do not miss this if you have time!
