My teenage daughter and I spent a few hours with Omri and we had the BEST time. The first part of the class involved walking thru Carmel market to pick up some of the fresh ingredients, for our meal, from the many vendors. We also sampled a variety of foods from vendors - which Omri had arranged for ahead of time As we strolled Omri shared the history of the area. Then we went up to cook! The kitchen is located above the market. There’s a balcony off the kitchen that allows you to observe all the energy down below. Omri is incredibly organized and we cooked an UNBELIEVABLE meal of shakshouka, falafel, tahina, hummus and burekas followed by knaffe for dessert. Since taking this class in March 2020 (just days before the COVID quarantine) I have found myself with a lot of time on my hands - and being at home with my family these days ive been doing a great deal of cooking. I’ve cooked Omri’s falafel, shakshuka, burekitas and his tahina five or six times in the last few months. My family tells me it’s the best falafel they’ve ever had. Thank you Omri!!!!

Omni is a very personable instructor who was informative at the market, set a pace that allowed for good "sampling" of the market environment, and was responsive to questions. And he was a good cooking instructor. I was amazed at how this complicated meal all came together and turned out so delicious! Also, I was impressed with the responsiveness and ease in the online process of enrolling in the class, including flexibility in schedule changes. Most of all, we enjoyed the culturally relevant conversations with him.

The idea of cooking the food of Israel was appealing. The opportunity to shop with, cook with, visit with and eat with the hosts was exceptional. Were with a couple other couples, most accomplished home cooks - we all still learned something about preparation of the dishes. The shopping was an interesting cultural element. The visit and cooking in their home was the memory for a lifetime.

We had such a great time exploring the market stalls and learning to cook Israeli food with Omri. We had great conversations, learned a lot, and had lots of fun all around! Oh, and we were stuffed after eating what we had cooked, plus we got to take leftovers from what we cooked too, which was great. This was definitely the highlight of our tour through Israel, thanks again Omri! :)
