Shachar felt like a member of the family, only one with an encyclopedic knowledge of the history, culture, politics, and geography of Israel and surrounding countries. He made it possible for my brother, niece, and me to take our mom/grandmother on an unforgettable trip to Israel. From Caesaria to Tzefat, Jerusalem to the Dead Sea, he guided us, drove us, and delighted us with his good humor and kind heart. He also spoiled us; I can't imagine my next trip without him.

My brother, niece and I traveled to Israel this February with our "senior citizen" mother (and grandmother), and Shachar helped make this memorable trip a great success, with his excellent, informative guiding, worry-free transportation, good humor, and patience. He showed us places that were new to all of us, and gave us new insights into places that some of us already knew. Overall a splendid experience, highly recommend!

I want to first speak about the guide our group had for a tour which included the Golan Heights which was an incredible site. The guide, part of the Rent-a-Guide group, was beyond spectacular! His name is Meni Tzabari. He was charming, funny, extremely knowledgeable and informed, but more than all of that he had great compassion and empathy. I miss him now that our tour is changing and I am going to Eilat. Anyone who is lucky enough to get him as a guide is in for a marvelous experience. He made my trip to Israel so very memorable! I cannot say enough wonderful things about Meni!

I was looking for a private guide to take me and my husband on a tour through Israel. It was our first visit and we needed someone to suggest an itinerary and then take us to see the highlights of this beautiful country. I found Shachar and his company by looking at ratings on Trip Advisor. You will see that he receives only 5 star ratings, and this is for good reason, as I will explain in more detail below. First, a few words about Shachar. He is a very intelligent guy who clearly loves what he does. He is funny, warm, and very open-minded. He was very comfortable taking a gay couple on a tour of Israel, and was willing to have very informative and fair-minded discussions of Israeli history and politics. Shachar is very flexible with the schedule - if you want to make some last minute changes he is very happy to do so. His knowledge of Israel is impressive and was able to provide detailed and interesting information on everything we saw. He was also very helpful in selecting great places to eat for lunch (our favorite was a winery in the north). And he took great care to ensure that my food was always gluten free, which is a dietary restriction I have to follow. And if he asks you if you want to hear a story about something we were seeing or experiencing, say yes! His stories are always entertaining and informative. His main concern is to ensure that his clients have the best experience possible (and he definitely succeeded with us). We spent about 6 days with Shachar. We spent our first couple of days in the north, driving from Tel Aviv to Nazareth, Akko (Acre), and many sites in the Galilee area and Golan Heights. Then we went to Jerusalem, which was amazing both because of the city itself as well as the insight Shachar provided into the city's history, religion, culture, and more. And when we asked if two friends of ours who were also traveling in Israel could join us for one of the days in Jerusalem, he was more than happy to include them in on the tour. One day Shachar also took us on a very interesting driving tour of the West Bank, showing us the Israeli settlements as well as pointing out the Palestinian towns nearby. And that same day we made an unexpected stop in Bethlehem, which was not part of the original itinerary. After Jerusalem, we were off to Ein Gedi, Masada, and the Dead Sea for a very busy and fun day. Finally, Shachar drove us to Eilat in southern Israel, which we used as a base for visiting Petra. We were originally going to hire a taxi to take us there since Shachar, as an Israeli guide, is not allowed to take tourists to Petra. But he decided to drive us himself to save us some money, which was greatly appreciated. By the end of our 6 days with Shachar, we felt we had made a new friend. We were actually sad to part ways in Eilat. Our vacation was so much better for having him as our tour guide. His enthusiasm, depth of knowledge, and friendliness are hard to beat. If you are traveling to Israel, do not hesitate to hire Hands on Israel. All of the 5 star ratings are well deserved.

Our trip to the Holy Land was a very moving experience for my family. Shachar, our tour guide, made sure our trip to Bethlehem and Jerusalem was very memorable. We had a full day tour with so many places to see and Shachar made sure we saw what we needed and wanted to see. He even found ways for us to see the Nativity Church even when the line was so long. The moment he said “I welcome you to Jerusalem!”, I was crying and was very moved. We just arrived that day after a long flight and Shachar knew we were tired and hungry but he made sure to go on our pace without missing the things we wanted to experience. In such a short time, we were able to experience Jerusalem the way we wanted to. We couldn’t have asked for a better tour and guide! Thank you, Shachar!
