My husband and I were thrilled to find a piece of artwork that would make the perfect gift for our daughter, a painting of the Tree of Life with gold leaf included at no extra cost! It is now framed and will hold a place of honor for years to come.
We also purchased a blessing on parchment for our son's business, which has been complimented by many already.
Azriel Gess, the talented creator of each masterpiece, was overflowing with depth and knowledge about the significance of each line and brushstroke.
His kindness and hospitality were most welcome.
On our next trip to the Holy Land, we will be sure to spend more time at the Museum of Psalms looking for our next "one of a kind" gift .
Many thanks to Azriel Gess for his talent!

Deceptively described and marketed. The artwork is beautiful and the owner is informative. On the other hand, it is certainly not a museum. It Is an art gallery where the point is to purchase artwork. Don't go if you are expecting exhibits of curated artwork.

Very surprised of your review! Each artwork based on the Psalms is fully presented and explained to all our visitors. And the actual paintings are NOT for sale! They are fully curated. Actually, the point of The Museum of Psalms is about presenting this fantastic treasure which is the Book of Psalms in a visual language depicted by one, and only one artist, through fifteen years; Moshe Zvi Berger. I am so sorry you could not get it! As a lot of museums today, we do have also items for sale as cards,books,prints...And our visitors are not pressed at all to buy anything!!! In case you felt so, I invite you to let me know through our contact link in our website. For all these reasons, your review is not aaeptable. Blessings.

The Museum of Psalms now has a store downstairs from the original Museum of Psalms. It had only been open 4 months when we came upon it.

This particular store was our favorite of all the stores in the Old City. Mordecai has carefully selected artists for whom he would like to showcase their art and give the public availability to purchase their work. All the artwork he has chosen is beautiful, reasonably priced, and unlike anything we had seen before. The artists he has chosen are extremely talented. The artists we spoke to were humble about their own work and promoted the work of others in the gallery. We found this to be refreshing and rare. Needless to say we felt quite fortunate to have come upon this shop during our visit to Jerusalem.

The Museum of the Psalms was one of only two stores in the Old City that we felt the peace to wander, browse, and ask questions without any pressure. All other stores in all the quarters of the Old City used a psychological ploy as an attempt to get you to purchase but not this one. There was great respect given to the customers. All from our tour group who found the store made note of this difference, spoke of it being their favorite store and purchased art work to bring home for framing as well.

We did not have the opportunity to visit the upstairs Museum Of The Psalms that all others are mentioning here but we did peek in the windows and saw the beauty that all have mentioned. Hopefully we can return to Jerusalem one day and have the privilege of getting to see and hear about the displayed work.

We found Mordecai and two of the artist’s he showcases in his store (one was Azriel Gess) to be extremely honorable good men. It was a pleasure to have met them as well as have their work in our home and our friend’s homes in the states.

If you visit the Old City we encourage you to visit both locations~ The Museum of The Psalms Store which is in the lower level of the Jewish Quarter and the upstairs Museum of The Psalms.

I would describe this as a gallery/museum. Should make an appointment online before going there. Mordecai gives you the background of the artist and explains the spititruality of the series of Psalm paintings. He has all sizes of artwork there/varous prices if you desire. Just go and enjoy the beautiful artwork.

I loved the art at this museum. It’s a bit different. Smaller and a jewel if you ask me. The hours were a bit different so check before heading there.

A rare find we stumbled upon in The Jewish Quarter in the Old City. There was a corresponding original painting to match each of the 189 psalms. There were paintings that did not deal with psalms but had deep meaning. The gentleman that runs the Museum is so very knowledgeable about each piece and he devotes so much time to each person. His kindness and patience with me was impressive. On our first visit, we knew we wanted to purchase a signed and numbered lithograph or a signed painting. We went back the next day to read the psalms and talk to the curator. We found the perfect psalm about creation and the painting was perfect. We choose a larger size for us. We purchased a tree of life for our daughter. There are sizes and prices fire everyone. We thought the prices were very good, especially when you buy more than one. This is something that is unique and a great memory from Israel.

Waking past I came into this store/ museum. Bright and full of committees, the paintings on display are by Rabbi Herbert who has since passed.

To have the psalms pour into canvas takes on a different meaning. Walk in to be blessed a bit more than usual.

Of course charming Mordecai is an added bonus!

My daughter and I planned to visit the Psalm Museum, during the planning stage of our trip. We were familiar with the work of the amazing artist...Rav Berg...May he Rest in peace. Despite seeing the art work in a book, we were not prepared to see the beauty, the radiance, and pure spirituality that exuded from the original paintings. It is something beyond special to see. Don't miss it. Mordechai Belgah, runs the Psalm Museum. He is extremely knowledgeable about the spiritual meaning of the paintings. He is a pleasure to meet, he is patient and very helpful. The lithographs are absolutely beautiful. I bought two. Please go and enjoy!
