We booked 2 days of touring the Old City with Dvir in January 2020. During the planning phase, he was responsive and happily answered all of my questions. During our two days of touring, he was positive and made our group feel welcome and comfortable. He did a great job taking us to some of the more "off the beaten path" spots (as we requested) for amazing local food. He was very accommodating to the needs of our group and was a pleasure to spend time with. Highly recommended!

Me and my 3 brothers took my 82 years old Mother to a day tour in Jerusalem. Dvir guided us through the streets of the old city for almost 3 hours and took us to hidden jems we could not find without him. He is full of knowledge and he makes you feel safe and comfortable with his open and kind personality. Dvir knows the city so well that he feels comfortable to adjust himself to the group even on the spot. We highly recommend him as a guide for tourists who visit Jerusalem for the first time as well as locals who think they know the city.

I cannot say enough about Dvir and our day with him. The whole day was an amazing experience. We started out at the Jaffa gate (where all the tourists enter) and where I assumed we would enter, but instead he took us down the road to the Damascus gate, explaining to my three daughters (15, 12 and 9) along the way the history of both the old city, but also the realities of the city around it over the course of the past 70 years. While wandering through every corner of the different quarters, and learning about the history, but also how communities currently live in the city, we sampled some of the best food on our whole trip: knafeh fresh out of the oven, hot bread with zatar and oil, and some kind of rice dish that you eat with chicken soup. We didn’t know if we would spend a half day or full day with Dvir, but from the first few minutes, my daughters were asking to spend the whole day bc they were so engaged and interested by what Dvir was showing and explaining to us. He is also he best!

My wife and I are Christians from Texas and had been planning to spend Easter in Jerusalem for 3 years. We stayed in the old city so we could “walk where Jesus walked” 2000 years ago. It was an awesome experience, and touring with Dvir in the old city of Jerusalem made it even more special! We walked to all the holy sites and felt very safe all along the way. He seems to know everyone, both Jewish and Arab people we passed - and they obviously knew him - adding to our feeling of safety. Shop keepers even gave gifts to us when they saw we were with Dvir (when have you ever had that experience when touring abroad?) We left Jerusalem spirituality blessed and with a good friendship. We have learned that the expense of a good tour guide is a must if you want to really experience a foreign environment. And you won’t go wrong with Dvir Hollander!!!!

We are a family of four with children ages 3 and 6. We hired Dvir as a guide to show us the Old City on our second day after already having been on a tour the day before. He was able to show us the city from a different perspective while keeping the kids entertained. We had a Wonderful experience and highly recommend him.

It was our first time in Jerusalem, so we needed a guide to take us around in the Old City. We found Dvir through the internet and hired him for a half day guidance concentrating on the must sees and some off the track tourist attractions. We were very much satisfied what we got during our short visit, and we were very pleased and happy with Dvir's knowledge, skills, friendlyness and English. We enjoyed a lot and got really tired of the relativly massive interesting infromation that we received during his guidance. I can for sure recommend him even for families with kids, because he knows how to deal with kids and make also for them enjoyable a tour. Thank you Dvir also for the great advice of local humus bar, it was fantastic! We also enjoyed the sense of humor you put into the communications. Hope to see you, soon!

I found Dvir through a FOAF recommendation, and he is fantastic! We went on a daylong walking tour that was beautifully tailored to my interests and speed. After hearing that I am a potter, we visited a workshop where I got to chat with the potter about glazing and firing techniques. I'm pretty sure Dvir knows someone for everything.

I don't usually take guided tours, so I was pleasantly surprised at how knowledgeable and low-key Dvir was. He answered all of my questions, told engaging stories about the area. We went to a ton of places I wouldn't even have thought of to look, and he did a really good job of talking about landmarks and pathways so that I could walk around later on my own.

I highly recommend Dvir!

We hired Dvir to show us around the Old City before our group arrived for a group tour. We wanted to see "life as it is lived by everyday people" He didn't disappoint. He showed us hidden roof tops to view the city, back passageways and we sampled local food from vendors the locals frequent. Everything was delicious. We met interesting shop owners who shared their stories with us. Dvir treated us as friends and shared many of his own stories with us. We would be seeing all the "spots" with our group so we appreciated seeing those hidden gems that most don't get a chance to experience. He answered all our questions about life in Israel today. We couldn't stop talking about our day with Dvir. Our friends decided to also hire him for a all day tour after hearing of our experience. You can't go wrong with a tour with Dvir. He's fun and very knowledgable.

Dvir was a fantastic guide. Over many hours, he took us all around the old city of Jerusalem, showing us the detail and subtlety of the many communities who live there, talking us to all the expected sites, as well as some less well known paths and viewpoints. He didn't rush anyone, and was quick to point out all the clean toilets asking our trip.

He seemed to know everyone, chatting to people in Hebrew, Arabic and English, and his commentary on the city and cultures was humanistic, interesting and nuanced.

He's got a couple of decades of funny material saved up, which made things flow well, and kept everyone awake throughout the day. He hooked us up with great, local food, and all included, the price seemed surprisingly reasonable for our group of 9.

My husband and I, and another couple of close friends spent an entire day touring Jerusalem with Dvir. He really listened to our interests and made sure that we were able to see everything we asked him to include, and he introduced us to so much more—traditional food, interesting people, views from tucked away secret rooftops—he seemed to know everyone. Dvir’s sense of humor and honest answers to our questions really helped us all feel like we were having an authentic experience rather than a touristy one. Dvir answered all my questions about our trip promptly by email before our arrival, whether they related to our tour or not. I’d spent 4 months living in Jerusalem as a student 20 years ago, and had wondered how I would be able to share my love for this city with my husband and friends in just a few days. Thanks, Dvir, for making our trip so memorable and for helping us all fall in love with Jerusalem for the first time or all over again.
