About
The Jerusalem Botanical Gardens is a gem in the heart of Jerusalem. It serves as an education, learning and research center, holds a diverse collection of plants from around the world which are displayed geographically and is a destination for tourism, recreation and cultural events. At around 30 acres, the Jerusalem Botanical Gardens is the largest in Israel. There are over 6,000 species and varieties of plants from around the world – Israel’s largest collection of live plants – displayed in 6 phyto-geographical sections – Southern Africa, Europe, North America, Australia, South-East and Central Asia and the Mediterranean. The sections simulate the landscapes of these areas and so there is always something blooming at the Jerusalem Botanical Gardens.

There is probably no better relaxation from the city's hustle and bustle than going to a park in the heart of the city. The Jerusalem Botanica Garden is an oasis of peace and tranquility, featuring over 6000 species of trees, plants, shrubs from the Middle East to Europe, arranged along winding trails and resting points to admire the scenery. Very well signed as well, taking the visitor around circular paths, including a lovely greenhouse that exhibits desert vegetation. A real pleasure for individuals and families alike. A tip for visitors arriving by cab. Make sure that you have arranged a pick-up back, or have a Get Taxi application on your phone, as the entrance is pretty distant from the main road. The admission fee for senior citizens is INS 25, ( 40 for adults).

I just love it here. Jerusalem is such a wonderful place to visit and the botanical gardens really bring another dimension to a visit here. The staff are really friendly and knowledgeable if you have questions. Each time I go there are bits to discover and I always leave having had a different experience to the last. I highly recommend, so great here. Really easy to get to on the bus too.

I am a big fan of the Gardens having visited many times over the last 20 years. It just gets better and better. The tropical conservatory has been extended and is brilliant, well worth a visit. The hot section has all the lush exotic plants you would expect to see and the new dry desert section is a complete contrast and shows you the sorts of plants you would normally have to travel to the desert to seek out. Take a tour and find out all sorts of things you didn't know.

certainly top 5 things to do in jerusalem if you love nature. the gardens are arranged phytogeographically allowing ne to experience plants from all over the world. Every time I visit Jerusalem I visit the garden with something for every season. Wild self seeded bulbs abound in the Spring and its a great escape in the summer. I also see families enjoying the kid oriented discovery areas.
if you are a plant geek, you will not be satisfied with only one visit so take your time exploring.

I was given an extensive tour of the Botanical Gardens by a volunteer. His enthusiasm was immense and it made this visit extraordinary. The work done there - also the training of horticulturalists - is an inspiration. Great eating facilities also in their onsite restaurant. This is to be highly recommended for anyone with an interest in the amazing world of plants

Hi illover123, so happy to hear you met one of our incredable volunteers! Did you know that we have nearly 200 people volunteering their time to work in the gardens? We are glad that you had a great experience. Hope to see you again soon.

Jerusalem is a quite hectic and intense city. In the gardens, you will find peace of mind.
It's a beautiful 120 dunam green lung, in which there are different plants (over 6,000 species) from all over the world. It's highly recommended to take guided tours in the gardens, especially in the most wonderful tropical conservatory.

This is no ordinary botanical garden but is special maybe even unique in the way it shows the benefits of plant conservation for so many people. It involves people suffering from stress, war trauma, deprivation and many others requiring help and direction. At the same time it is a place of scientific experimentation, creativity and beauty. The gardens provide the opportunity for a fun visit , to get in stuck in helping and even volunteering on a working holiday.

Can't wait for a return visit.

As a keen gardener in the UK, I loved my visit to the Jerusalem Botanic Gardens particularly the plants grouped in different geographic regions. I loved seeing many plants familiar to me from my London garden, and lots of others which we only know as house plants. Very relaxing visit for all the family including young children.

No matter how hot the Israeli summer gets, you can count on the botanical garden's summer activities to keep your kids busy in the most engaging way, along a trail of attractions throughout the garden . Lots of parking, beautiful pond and a nice coffee shop as your arrive. This year's summer activity included 25 stops themed as the Playmobil kingdom". We arrived - 2 boys at the age of 6, a 4 y/o boy and a newborn at 9 am and left around 2 pm. Could have easily stayed. The garden is accessible for strollers/wheelchairs. I highly recommend it and heard that the evening shift has beautiful lights and cooler weather (they do 9-1 and 4-9 pm).
