So like I was just here in Jerusalem a few years ago and machane yehudah was a bustling daytime food shopping extravaganza and now abrakadabbra it's a night bar emporium. Over 20 bars and many serve sushi. Great place to have a night cap especially because most places are closed after 11. This place is open probably till 2am. A... More

Where once it was a stinky, dirty market- Machane Yehuda is elevated to fashionable and fabulous. Eat lunch in any of the inner or exterior restaurants... buy upscale haleva, baklava, pita, rugalach... munch on dates, apricots, nuts... come hungry...

It was great fun. Our tour company held a scavenger hunt to encourage the use of our Hebrew and get the kids talking to folks in the market. I now have a too great appreciation of coffee halvah!

If your interested in clothing, utensils or appliances imported and marked up and fruits sprayed with pesticides than this is an awesome place for you. Also the constant shreaking about the price per pound of strawberries isn't helping the atmosphere. The strip is littered with bakeries selling cakes and breads made from bleached white flour. However There is an excellent cheese... More

Probably the single greatest market in the world. It has everything: fresh produce, meats, more produce, local fast food, and yet more produce. Local foods, western foods, everything in between. This place is packed constantly, for better or for worse, and gives you a true taste of Jerusalem (pun intended). Also, some new hip mini-restaurants and mini-bars are setting up... More

My Husband and myself have visited this cafe twice now. The prices are reasonable, the food is all fresh using ingredients from the nearby market, the staff are friendly, helpful and obliging. It's so nice to have the healthy option available. Coffee is very nice and the freshly squeezed juices are prepared using a slow press. The food aromas are... More

Mahane Yehuda market is becoming a cult place for Israeli foodies. Israeli chef are moving their restaurants there and fighting for leases. Yet for all newly opened fancy tourist-targeting restaurants there are still a few authentic inxpensive eateries frequented by locals. Watch your pockets when moving around.

A great marketplace! You can find anything you want here and there's a wide range of prices. There are a lot of choices of food (from cheap street food to boutique restaurants) and there are many other small shops with many interesting products. Two important tips: 1. Watch out for pick-pocketing! 2. Unless you're buying food, Haggle for better prices!
