This was our second day in Israel touring with our guide, Mickey. It was a excellent full day tour of Jerusalem and Bethlehem with Guided Tours Israel. As she did on the previous day's tour to Galilee, Mickey did a wonderful job of giving us the history of each place that we visited and moving us from place to place so that we didn't miss any of the important sites. It was a very rainy day but we were still able to see and do everything as planned. I highly recommend Guided Tours Israel not only for the great tour that they planned for us, but for the price and communication before the tour that made the day go very well.

We were on 2 full-day shore excursions (Biblical Galilee and Jerusalem and Bethlehem). From the outset, Leo was wonderful – always professional, quick to respond to emails, very organized and detail-oriented. Despite our cruise ship having to change itineraries and dates at the last minute, he quickly accommodated us. The Holy Land has been on my bucket list for almost 40 years. Given that we were docked in Haifa for only 2 days, we wanted the most comprehensive overview possible. Guided Tours Israel successfully did that for us! We were extremely impressed with our guide Michal. Often, I have difficulty understanding tour guides in countries for which English is not the primary language. I understood every word that Michal spoke! He was very knowledgeable and not only provided a wealth of information about history, culture, and religion, but also told personal anecdotes that made us appreciate what sites we were visiting. We recommend Guided Tours Israel with unbounded enthusiasm!

First I want to say how great Leo was to deal with. He had to deal with date changes for our visit due to the cruiseline (NCL) changing our port days as well as arrival time changes with short notice of only a few days. I’m not sure how he managed it all since besides our private tour he had several large group tours from our ship but he did. Leo was very receptive, professional, responsive and accommodating from my first email to him more than 14 months before our scheduled visit. He is a delight to work with and feel this is a really reliable company to work with. This was an overnight stay for us but we made our own hotel reservations and not set up through GTI. As to our site visits, we loved Jerusalem and getting to the religious sites. We were unable to get to Bethlehem due to our port arrival being delayed 3 hours by NCL so a bit disappointing but not the fault of the tour company. We also enjoyed Masada, seeing the Qumran Caves (which we requested be added on to our guide Charles who kind of balked at our request but did get us there) and getting to the Dead Sea where I waded in the water. One in our party of 4 did go swimming and said it was a hoot. But be forewarned - it’s a steep walk down to the water and back up. Two things - if you can afford it, do a private tour. We personally do not like being herded on tours and like the one on one interaction. The sites were crowded even at low season so keeping together in a big group would be difficult and waste time at the sites. Second - our vehicle for Day 1 was a Ford Explorer that was VERY SMALL for 4 generous sized adults. I specifically asked about that in advance because we knew we would need the space and expected a van that would have easily accommodated us. Charles was our guide and when I explained my husband was sandwiched in the third row with our overnight bags, very uncomfortable, could not hear what he was saying and asked if he could get a larger vehicle for us since we would be spending a lot of time in the vehicle the second day, his reply was “I’ve never had any complaints before.” I interpreted that as tough luck so I emailed Leo while in the vehicle about the unsatisfactory vehicle we were in and he managed to fix it for us. We had a roomy van the next day that was what we originally expected. Charles’ attitude was not one of interaction… he just wanted to talk AT us and I could sense he would get annoyed if we interrupted him with a comment or question. Like it would derail his train of thought. And then he would go on forever without giving us a chance to interject comments. He WAS very knowledgable but not very adaptable or responsive without us forcing the issue on a few occasions and I personally think he has been doing tours a little bit too long. He showed no enthusiasm for the sites we visited and we find that an important component to tour satisfaction/enjoyment. We had to ask to stop at some sites we believed were included in our tour day. He seemed to just want to do drivebys. And I think he was extremely annoyed that we forced the car switch on him… and that was simply too bad. I did not care for his style nor his personal interactions with us and suggest you avoid him if possible. We are not difficult people to please but all 4 of us on this private tour felt the same way. Overall, we had 2 good but not great days due to Charles which accounts for my rating of 4 stars. Leo and GTI however are 5-star!

We had booked and prepaid (fairly priced) a tour from Haifa to Jerusalem from our cruise ship in April . Due to coronavirus we had to cancel the cruise and emailed GTI to request a refund. They responded within 24hrs that they would process the refund which was received within 2 days. This is a very difficult time for the travel industry but this company is obviously, as their advertising says an ethical family owned business. They have been responsive to emails since the beginning and we especially liked how detailed the description of their tour(s) are e.g. what to expect, and possible variations due circumstances. When we reschedule our cruise to Israel GTI will definitely be our first email to arrange our tour(s).
