Michal is an incredible guide. My wife and I met Michal on a ten day tour with a large group. She facilitated an incredible trip that was as informative as it was fun.

I'll start with the basics. Michal's communication was clear, concise, and relevant. Her English is excellent and she is a very good translator as she speaks Hebrew, Arabic, French, and probably more languages. She, like most Israelis, served in the military in her twenties. She worked in logistics, and it shows. She planned our itinerary, managed timing, coordinated with venues, and coordinated with our awesome bus driver, Wisam. One of the members of our group used a wheelchair. She planned handicap accesible routes for every site we visited and rearranged her narratives to accommodate the accessible route.

Michal nearly pursued a PhD in history. Her mind is a vast repository of knowledge: on the state of Israel, on the history of the Middle East, on religious history, and on hundreds (thousands?) of sites within Israel and the West Bank. She wove together a fascinating narrative which followed strands all of these stories, challenging our preconceived notions in a gentle way. She worked hard to always give well-rounded accounts, and she called out when she thought her personal experiences and beliefs made it difficult for her to do so.

It felt like Michal knew half the guides that we bumped into during our trip. She's a leader within her profession in Israel and she campaigned for support from her government during the Covid shutdowns, when tourism completely stalled. Some of the other guides asked her if she was the guide from TV (she is.)

As good of a guide as she is, I'll remember Michal because she is a such vibrant person. She lives her life with conviction and she cares deeply about her communities. She left me with this impression on the first day and reinforced it over the next nine. I can't recommend Michal strongly enough, whether you need a guide for a two weeks or two hours.

Our time in Israel was made incredibly special by Michal and her amazing artistry in explaining the land of Israel. Almost one year has passed since our trip but we continue to talk regularly about Michal and what an amazing impact she had on us. She has a deep knowledge of history and is able to convey it in a way that is interesting, fun, and memorable. We could not recommend her more highly.

My wife and I booked our trip to Israel with Artisans of Leisure, a luxury tour agency. We have worked with them before and they are outstanding. If you want every part of your trip handled without worries, you can’t go wrong with them.

On this trip, we were joined by Michal Granot, a wonderful tour guide, for five days. She was born in Jerusalem and her family has been there for about 200 years. Michal is knowledgeable, smart, articulate and a great listener. She wanted to know about our interests, from politics to religion, before we started touring. Very impressive. While Artisans sets up the itinerary with us ahead, Michal enhances the experience by pointing out things which either will need more explaining or spends more time on topics of interest.

So, we visited Jerusalem, inside and out. Everyone seems to know Michal. This was especially fun in the markets. When we went to Masada and the Dead Sea, she made sure that we spent time at a beautiful nature preserve close by, Ein Gedi. It had waterfalls and was a great place for a hike.

When we went to visit holy sites by the Galilee, she knew the best times to go and see the Beatitudes and Capernaum, but also where to get the best shots of the sea and the River Jordan. Always pleasant, she shared her opinions which were always thoughtfully offered. Michal was respectful when our perspectives differed.

We cannot recommend Michal and Artisans too highly.

No words can describe that day! Not enough words to describe Michal and her knowledge.

We meet Michal at the gate of Jerusalem around 9 Am. Our group of 5 included Children and the elderly; she catered to their needs and movement abilities, managed the children's curiosity, and told them history in simple and lovable ways. From the start, she attracted our attention with her knowledge and personality. She got the whole old city roads in her memory; she used some shortcuts to save effort for my father, who can't walk long distances.

Michal is knowledgeable and well-established in her specialty zone; almost every tour guide knows her and greets her during the tour. On more than one occasion, we noticed the local's respect towards her within all four quarters and the positive influence she embraces within the community.
The tour lasted 8 hours; she planned the area visits, kept time tracks, and made recommendations.

We were fortunate to have her as our guide in the old city of Jerusalem. She was professional, humble, and genuine.
Michal has immense knowledge of the three religions; her point of view has always been neutral and backed up with historical facts and logical reasoning.

I can't recommend Michal enough and wish her all the best for the future.

We've toured Jerusalem before, but this time was different and more rewarding with Michal as our guide. We covered assorted topics as we strolled outside the old city walls and adjoining neighborhoods...off the trail so to speak...even through the amazing ancient sewer system beneath the city. We learned how and where people lived more than 2000 years ago vs their current environment in Jerusalem and in the West Bank. Michal's warm, vivacious, witty, full of knowledge and an energetic hiker. Yet she slowed down to accommodate us; in the heat she found shade and she avoided steps where possible. She grew up here, studied and worked here and elsewhere and literally guides the guides (they all know her and say "you've got the best.") She's fluent in five languages and speaks impartially about the nuances between Jews, Palestinians and Arabs and about how they all are able to share this holy space (most of the time). Her learnings resonated with our 19 year old grandson as well. We visited the marketplace and numerous off the main drag communities that make Jerusalem so special in about seven hours.

All I can say is that if you have a chance to hire Michal as a guide, do it. We were fortunate to have her as our guide for three days. The first and second day we toured the old city of Jerusalem and on the third day we went to two museums, the Holocaust Memorial Museum and the Israel Museum. I never write reviews but she was so knowledgeable, professional and flexible, I felt I had to. In addition, we hit all the sites, Jewish, Christian and Musiin so you get a total tour and they are all treated with respect and she never pushed one religions agenda over the other. So if you want to make your time in Jerusalem count, hire Michal.

We booked a last minute tour with Michal of the Old City in Jerusalem. We live in the US and have 3 kids of varying ages (10-18). Michal was the perfect fit for us. She speaks fluent English and Hebrew and had just the right mix of history, culture and humor to keep everyone engaged throughout the tour.

Our day-tour of the Old City of Jerusalem with Michal was the highlight of our trip. I've spent a lot of time in Jerusalem but my mom had never been. Michal was able to create a tour that included new things for me as well as making sure my mom saw all the most important places in the Old City. Her knowledge is so vast and she is able to do a wonderful job explaining complex history. She's also just lovely to be around and was happy to answer any (and all the) questions we asked. I hope I'll have an opportunity in the future to do another tour with her. Thank you, Michal!

Michal was one of the main highlights of our trip to Israel. She provided enormously insightful commentary on Israel's past and present and curated her explanations to deftly tie in key themes across history, politics, and culture. Experiencing Israel through her eyes was more informative than anything we could have read in a guidebook or listened to via an audio guide. She also was phenomenal with all aspects of logistics and constantly took pains to make sure everything was running as smoothly as possible for us. It was truly a pleasure to have her as a tour guide and we will recommend her to any friends visiting Israel in the future.

I really can’t say enough about how incredible Michal was this last 10 days in Israel. She’s incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about history and the city she calls home. If you want to learn about and experience Israel, you need to do it with Michal. She gives an informed and balanced account of what’s happening is this amazing, complex country. She shares narratives other than her own, and she has an extremely high emotional/social intelligence. Michal is an incredible tour guide and an even better human being. Highly HIGHLY recommended.
