Do not expect much only some pictures of the city from then and now and you have to pay 25 Shekels to enter just to see some pictures.

My husband assured me the museum was open — it wasn’t! Lovely exterior of the buildings. Close to many other interesting places.

This city museum sits in a beautiful renovated building in the German Colony. It is actually 2 buildings, (one of them was a school) with exhibits about the city’s history and lots and lots of maps and pictures. I can understand the criticisms of some of the other reviewers, however we had a great visit because we were part of a 45 minute tour with a professional museum guide. She was very knowledgeable, but spoke too fast for most of us. Unfortunately, the city has approved an ugly monstrosity of a hotel right next to the museum and surrounding it on 3 sides. The construction has already made the museum basement (which used to be accessible and part of the visit) inaccessible due to water damage. It is hard for me to understand how the city approved this ugly project which is clearly endangering the city’s own museum. I think the museum is worth a visit if you are visiting the German Colony, and particularly if you are a Haifa resident.

As you can guess from the name of the museum, this is all about the city of Haifa. There really isn't very much to see unless you're an inhabitant of the city or really really interested in Haifa. There's some information in English, probably only a little less than Hebrew, but really there's an overall limited amount. There's a 2nd building hosting a children's toys themed collection and an art collection. The latter of which seems to have been thrown together to fill up space. The museum is well maintained and I do sense a love of the city, but it's not enough overall for the tourists me thinks.

Very, very little information provided. Ten times worse than reading a chapter in Lonely Planet about a city because even that is a positive experience while this was mind-boggling. I don't think I have ever been to a city museum as bad as this one. The woman at reception/the gift shop was not friendly or all that helpful when I asked questions about things that were not but should have been covered in the museum, such as the current demographics of the city and when/why those people came. This was not even worth 4 shekels, so to charge 35 is a joke.
