great experience in an amazing nature reserve
Aug 2020
this was my first experience of hiking in israel, and it left a positive impression on me. when you leave your vehicle and enter the trail there is a stand where maps of the park's territory and hiking trails are available. in the beginning of the green easy trail there is a rather shallow landscape (pics 1, 2), which gives you a little taste of the desert and its ancient rocks. then you eventually enter the red canyon itself (pics 3, 4, 5,) where special facilities for rock climbing can be found (pic 6). after finishing the green trail and leaving the narrow red canyon, you can return to the parking through a special returning path or continue your journey on a black more hard trail (pic 7). it is surrounded by mountains and contains some harsh climbs. at some point of the black trail you can continue your journey or take the red trail, that will take you back to the parking through the desert hills (pic 8). the park's trails are provided with special color markings on the rocks that show you which of the trails you're currently walking, so you can hardly get lost there. the only bad thing about this park is that on the maps and in the signs that are set on the trails there is no information about the length of the paths and approximate time it takes to hike them. during our visit, it took us about 2 hours to complete the journey that i described previously - the green trail, half of the black trail and the red trail. in overall, this was an amazing experience - but don't forget to bring with you a big bottle of water or two and a first aid kit, since the nature reserve is far from the civilization, and there are of course no shops and sometimes even no cellular.

Beautiful Scenery, Easy hike for grownups
Mar 2020
Very beautiful views of rather unique landscapes.
We took the "green" easy trail, which is reasonably easy and made safe for adults. There are handgrips sealed in the rocks to make it safely passable.

My caveat would be not to take children under 12-14 years old: It's safe it you are tall enough to reach the grips, and reasonable enough to be careful.
For anybody unreasonable, unfit, over- or under-size, it's easy to get into trouble in some passages.

For the reasonable ones, it's an easy hike that is very rewarding.
And the route 12 to get there is very scenic too.

Short trip, Lovely place
Mar 2020
Situated about 30 minutes drive north of Eilat this small park offers a nice walk in a narrow canyon, including some short ladders.
It is recommended to get there by car, as the place is a bit far from the main roas (highway 12).

A very nice trip. A mini version of the Grand Canyon : )
Feb 2020
This was my second visit to the Red Canyon. This time around, it was late in the afternoon at around the sunset time. Unfortunately, the sky was overcast, and the lighting was poor. Still, we have a very good time, including sighting of a dassie and wild goats.

The beautiful Red canyon nextto Eilat
Feb 2020 • Solo
From Eilat Central bus station you are able to buy a ticket for 12.50shekels to see the Red canyon. At the station you can find a timetable. 30min later you will reach the Red canyon. The shortest route is takes approximately 1 hour.
The rocks are beautifully formed and makes you wander of the natural environment.
Visit early is better because of the heat. It is a populalar destination and gets extremely busy.
Well worth the visit.
On the way back bear in mind on Thursday the soldiers going home from the next town and the buses are full. My bus didn't take any passengers. Have plenty of water because it is in the desert.
Have fun and enjoy nature and do not litter.

The Red Canyon in the Eilat Mountains is one of Israel’s most beautiful yet accessible hiking trails. Twenty minutes north of Eilat, the Red Canyon offers an undisturbed hike through the natural canyons. The Red Canyon gets its name from the phenomenon which occurs when sunlight hits the reddish rock that lines the canyon, giving it an intense reddish color. The rock is varied in color and in patches is shades of white and yellow.

Nice walk for morning or afternoon.

We had a nice walk through the Canyon and we also went around on the long walking trail and it is definitely worth it! So my recommendation is to continue from the Red Canyon on green, black and red walking path back to the parking lot.
