About
Welcome to The Botanical Garden of Eilat (in the organic farm) On the northern border of the town of Eilat is hidden a spectacularly beautiful garden - the botanical garden of Eilat. The garden was created on a former military outpost and is built on stone terraces in ancient Biblical style. Inside the garden there are rare plants from all over the world, a reconstructed stream, waterfalls, enchanting walking tracks, signposting, seating areas, bird sanctuaries and its crowning glory, a rain forest. The rain forest is the first of its kind in the world! A cool and refreshing experience for all the family. Does it sound like the Garden of Eden? That's just what it's like. In the Park: Plant nursery, sales centre, herbal teas and organic coffee, ice lollies and more

We came from Belgium and were shocked from the place. In the beginning they said us to put our bag by them, that we not will make their place dirty (??!) And in the end they told us to go away from the place for eating for everyone! That we not allowed to eat in place our kosher sandwich. Really disappointed. And we had seat outside on the ground with small kids to eat.

we are sorry that you didnt enjoy the very special botanical garden just because it is forbidden to bring food to the garden.
there is a very big sign in the entrance about it. the reason is because we are organic, with no spraying against
harmful insect, so that is one of our ways to prevent insects. again we are sorry that you were disappointed.

A charming and well-kept botanical garden. Located at the entrance to the city. Not so famous among tourists and that makes it even more special. Suitable for a romantic trip or a trip with the kids. Really recommended!

PROS
* Many different types of plants and some explanations
* Shaded areas
* Interesting wooden chairs and stuff built from wood
* Quiet and calming
* Private endeavor in the desert produced by environmentalists
CONS
* Not enough explanations
* The paths are interconnecting and confusing which way to go
* This can be dusty and hot/sweaty
* Very out-of-the-way location at entrance to city behind a gas station and bus depot
* Inadequate signage- you don't know if you are there until you are there
* The cost
"I VISITED THIS PLACE"...
... because Mrs. Place wanted to visit something else that we hadn't visited in our close to thirty visits over more than 25 years. i admit that I was not interested even before we left the hotel. It was not clear how to get there- we didn't know that we were there until we got there.
After being told the price, I asked if there was a senior deduction- I was told that that was the senior deduction.
We wandered around and looked at stuff. It was OK. It was a bit dusty. There were many confusing paths and it wasn't clear where to go, despite the scenic graphic schematized colorful laminated map. The most interesting part was the old Israeli army trench paths and also the stationary trucks and vehicles carved from wood.
WAS IT WORTH THE COST?
No
WOULD "I VISIT THIS PLACE" AGAIN?
No
ADVICE
* Be sure that you know where you are going before you go
* Know the cost
* Be prepared to wander around

What we liked was that it was a calm and serene place, away from the hustle and busle of busy city life. There are trails, some marked, some not (disliked this part); some very accecssible to Senior Citizens, some not (disliked this part). There is swing for relaxation in a secluded area. There are benches. The view is lovely (the mountains of Jordan). Most of the trees are marked with their names, but some not (disliked that). Because it's winter, there weren't too many flowers, but plenty of petunias and pansies and snap dragon. There's a map for following the route. There is no access for Senior Citizens to go down to see the waterfall at its base because the stairs leading down have not railings and we were afraid we'd fall. Definitely a minus. However, we saw the waterfall from above. We really did enjoy our visit. It was quite relaxing. One admission fee (NIS 20, about $5.50) lets you come back within 36 hours. We didn't do this because round trip by taxi from Eilat's hotel area cost NI 51. But if you have a car, there's a parking lot. There's also a stand where you can purchase tea, etc. and also a nursery where you can buy plants. The staff is friendly and helpful.

I visited the botanical garden together with my two 6 year-olds and my parents. It is not easy to find a place that can be equally appreciated by all age groups (myself included), but the botanical gardens provided a relaxing afternoon for all. The staff is friendly and you can tell how proud they are of every leaf that they have nurtured in these charming gardens. It makes a great refuge from the more commercial atmosphere of Eilat.

First of all the Botanical Garden in Eilat is an unexpected place to find in the hot city of Eilat.
The heat in Eilat can really wear you out!How awesome to find yourself in a garden in the desert. to find yourself in a mini- Rain Forest. It's very educational as well. After walking through the gardens and sitting a a quiet meditative spot somewhere you can enjoy a wonderful coffee in the little coffee area. To think that just a few years ago the only thing there were rocks, plenty, plenty rocks.
It's a dream come true to make the desert bloom! Don't miss it!

The small botanical garden of Eilat is very nice. there are 9 stations you walk through and learn about. You will find there plants, trees, short walk in a rain forest. The place is unique since they managed to grow plants and trees which does not belong to the desert and although the hot desert weather in Eilat - the plants and trees grow and flowerish. There are many nice corners to sit, wooden furniture, small water pool and water fall, and a very good atmosphere. You can finish the tour in one hour and stay at the main area for another hour for coffee and relaxing. We really enjoyed it, and also asked the owners about the history of the place. It used to be an army camp 13 years ago..

A very friendly welcome, but not much to see. We enjoyed the tree house, the rain forest and the vehicles made of wood, but expected a proper garden, rather the just plants dotted around.

The Botanical Garden is keeping the natural landscape,
and for that only 30% is with access to wheelchair.
That's why no entrance charge for wheelchairs.

I am a grandmother coming with two children on June 29th. What provisions are there to help deal with the heat? Do I need to provide special apparel
What is the best hour to visit the park, How far is it from the Laguna Hotel.
Written June 25, 2016
From the hotel, maxium 15 minutes by car, possibly less.
in the actual rain forest its very cool, waking around the rest I would seriously advice hat and water, and sensible shoes.
It could take anything from half hour to three hours, depending on how much you absorb and meander.
