We met Osman on our tour in Turkey. We went to his beautiful workshop and he introduced us to his work with such passion and care that i was won over even before i saw the work. The care that goes into producing the best quality artwork, and the care for organic colors and quality fibers was impressive. I have long believed in the importance of supporting local enterprises when traveling and it is so evident that Osman is not only making high quality products, but teaching and supporting local artists to continue on. If you get a change, so and visit this wonderful family and purchase a beautiful carpet. Great experience!

We went to visit the home carpet factory of Osman Can which was a wonderful experience! You get to see the whole process from colour making, dying as well as the actual carpet making! We even got to try ourselves to make some knots ;)
He has great knowledge and an actual love for the carpets and kilims he sells.
We bought 3 absolutely beautiful antique Kilims from him - for a fair price.
We continued our travels through Turkey and didn´t want to bring the extra weight so Osman Can made sure to deliver the Kilims to Istanbul to our Hotel by the end of our journey. So it was super easy for us to bring them back home.
Check out his shop if you´re looking for some first class carpets or antique Kilims!

Exceptional experience! I’ve bought carpets over the past 30 years in several countries as an amateur collector. Osman provided the best service I’ve ever encountered. He genuinely is passionate about carpets and not only was extremely patient, but took us to see one of his workshops (where you can see that they only use real natural dies) and his wife taught us how to tie Turkish double knots! (Stronger than single knots used in some other countries carpets.) Thank you Osman for a wonderful time in Seljuk and for your gracious kindness!

Visiting Osman’s workshop by appointment was one of my favourite activities in Turkey! We were treated to a delicious breakfast in the courtyard. Behind us were beautiful carpets and dyed wool drying in the sun. Osman did a wonderful job giving us a tour in both English and Turkish, demonstrating how different plants are used to create the dyes, and how some colours (indigo) will change when the dyed wool is exposed to oxygen. The quality of the carpets is superb with a wide ranging collection. Osman is clearly very passionate about his business and very knowledgable about it as well.

I visited Can Carpet in May of 2022 and had the most wonderful experience! Osman is incredibly kind and full of knowledge. He also speaks Turkish, German and English that I know of - possibly more than that! The rugs are just gorgeous and there is any shape, size or design you could imagine. Osman took us on a tour in his small shop/factory, showing us how the wool was dyed, spun and eventually weaved into the carpets. This is a must-see if you’re in Turkey! Can Carpet is the very last of its kind - don’t let the tourist traps down in Selcuk deceive you! Definitely take the time to pay this impressive establishment a visit while you still can.

A group of us (5) traveled to the Seven Churches areas in Turkey, and our local friend who was guiding us invited the five of us to visit Can Carpet and spend some time with his friend, and the owner, Osman. Here is how it went:

We showed up and were warmly welcomed with lunch. The food was amazing, and not at all like what we were eating in restaurants. We were told that it was very similar to what the Turks eat on a normal basis, and it was delicious! We had conversations in English, Turkish, and German with Osman, so there was no worry of being left out of the conversation. We learned about his family and how well he treats his employees. I can honestly say that it sounds like he is one of the best people to work for in his area.

After lunch, tea, and Turkish coffee, Osman showed us how they make the yarn for the carpets. It was really cool to see the materials used for the different colors and where they get them.

Our next part of the tour was to visit the women making the carpets. He showed us their stations and gave us information on how he is replicating carpets that are hundreds of years old. It was amazing to see the women work so quickly and accurately. My wife was invited to make a knot, guided by Osman's wife, and it was humbling to see how clumsy we moved in comparison.

Osman then took us to another section where his inventory is. He laid out so many carpets and gave the history behind their designs. It was an amazing experience to see beauty and history wrapped up in these carpets.

At no point during our meeting did we feel pressured to buy anything. That being said, when we did ask him about the prices, he worked with us and we gladly purchased one!

Later on, while we were talking to Osman about different foods, he invited us to swing by another location of his and fed us a very special kind of almond and walnut. His hospitality and generosity were amazing.

If there is one place you visit, make sure it is this location. Osman is one of the treasures that Turkey has to offer the world!

An excellent carpet buying experience from top quality, hand made workshop with the best reputation in the area. Mr. Osman made what can be a high pressure experience an enjoyable learning one where he helped us hone down to the best options based on our preferences. We even video conferenced in our daughter for her to choose one virtually. Excellent service and fair prices for gorgeous carpets not typically found in other Turkey locations. If you want to invest in a carpet during your Turkey vacation (or even remotely) - go here. Since our antique carpet choice (one of three we purchased) needed slight repairs, he arranged then shipped to us in Istanbul to meet us before our flight home. He ships globally as well. Thanks Mr. Osman for the beautiful carpets that we will cherish!

We had heard a lot about Osman from a friend that lives local. We waited until our last day to visit his workshop and let me tell you, it is worth the visit. His level of craftsmanship, material and hospitality are unparalleled. Hand spun wool, vegetable dye and all handmade rugs. He is the last of his craft; this is truly a lost art.
