About
An engraved foot in stone points the way to this peristyle house that was used as a brothel. It is thought that a passageway once existed from the library next door, allowing patrons a secret entrance to the bordello.

It's not an attraction and probably is not what the guides tell you it is. It's certainly not a brothel. But it's what people like to hear to make the site a little titillating. And I'm sure there were plenty of brothels around at the...More

In Las Vegas cards are passed out everywhere along the strip. In Ancient days they carved marks along the street to point the way. Here just past the library was a foot etched in the stone to point the way to the brothel across from...More

The footprint is said to have guided the sailors to the brothel in town, run by a woman who build a number of buildings for the citizens.

The same thing that drives up today is the same as 2000 yrs ago. A little unexpected though on a tour but this is real life and its a wonder how well it is preserved.

There was a brothel in Ephesus apparently, like there was in Pompeii. However, the sign that people are referring to as the 'advertising sign in the pavement' is just a very small carving in a stone on the pathway within Ephesus - it isn't even...More

Above each doorway is a fresco painting depicting what "service" the woman inside was offering. Wow, amazing.

Opposite the library is the Brothel or the Love House. Husbands used to tell their wives that they want to go the library, and then they turn there. It was official, and only a marble stone shows the direction to there.

interesting to see that the customers at this brothel could select their desired "entertainment" from pictures drawn on the walls. This might have been the very first Graphical User Interface!!!
