An engraved foot in stone points the way to this peristyle house that was used as a brothel. It is thought that a passageway once existed from the library next door, allowing patrons a secret entrance to the bordello.

Not sure I could see it was advertizing for a brothel.

You can see the foot carved into the stone beside some carving of a woman wearing jewelry. The guide explained this was the ancient brothel but I couldn't say I seen how this... read more

It is a tour stop to show the sign and to tell the story this points to a brothel. That is about it. It could be mythology, but the subject is appealing for tourists.

You can see the foot carved into the stone beside some carving of a woman wearing jewelry. The guide explained this was the ancient brothel but I couldn't say I seen how this was advertising for that. Part of the tour of Ancient Ephesus. It's along the street as you walk through the city. There are many important stops close... More

You would not normally associate a brothel with the Bible, but in the Ancient City of Ephesus is the location of the ruins of a brothel. The ruins are part of the Ancient City ruins so it is not a separate location you have to go to. It is located at a prominent street corner in the old city and... More

This picture depicts the way to the brothel and was placed on the road from the harbour and according to our tour guide could have been the very first known advertisement - what an ingenious idea. Even I could read it clearly! !!

Hardly rates it's own site on Trip Advisor. Just on the main street as you walk through Ephesus. A series of room ruins.

It's opposite the Celsus Libary and was last used quite a long time ago (about 2000 years!) It was the custom to 'entertain' the visiting sailors and merchants when they arrived at the port, unfortunately the sea is now some 5 miles away..
