Our tour was conducted by Best of Ephesus. The company representatives were waiting for us as our ship arrived in port. We went over the schedule and together we set up the tour to avoid the crowds and the result was that we got the best pictures before the crowds arrived at Ephesus. Our very knowledgeable guide was Dilek ( means wish) she was very friendly and took very good care of us along with our driver. We toured Ephesus, the Virgin Mary's House, where our Blessed Mother was known to have lived the last years of her life. We also left petitions for loved ones. We toured St John's Basilica and his tomb. Also this where St John wrote the Gospel. Additionally we toured the Celsus Library and Odeon theatre, baths and many other attraction along the way that Dilek pointed out to us. We walked the marble streets and saw the pillars of Hercules and where the NIKE logo is said to have come from. An amazing day spent with a good company, the van was a mercedez with great air conditioning and plenty of room to relax. I would use the company again.

We originally were 2 people for the tour but met a couple on our cruise and they asked to join us for our tour. We promptly emailed the company and they were absolutely fine with adding them. We were picked up in a comfortable van with working air conditioning (a necessity for Europe in the summer). Our tour guide Rafat was exactly where we were told he would meet us. He provided a lot of information to us along the way and when we got to our destinations. We had the "Best of Epheus" tour and learned a great deal from our tour guide about Greek, Roman and Turkish history. He spoke perfect English. Euro is their preferred method of payment for them and a lot of Turkey (even thought the country currency is Lira), but they did except USD from us (just know the conversion). Also, be mindful that for the Best of Ephesus tour requires three different entrance fees. So you may want to inquire with them before you go how much those fees will be. Our tour guide got our tickets for us ahead of time, but be mindful to bring along extra money to pay the guide for those fees since they are not part of the tour price and also if you decide to go to the leather factory or Turkish Delight store (which we chose) you may want to buy a few items. Bring exact change or make sure to make some since you pay the guide and he may not have change to give you back. Overall a great tour and wonderful experience. Would definitely recommend.

We are a family of four including one pre teen and one young teen son. Our guide Ender shared information with all of us. He was also flexible to modify the order of the tour in order to beat crowds and also good at taking into account our interests. I highly recommend!

I joined a group of CC members for a day tour of Ephesus in late May. The AC car was spacious and comfortable. We requested “Hakan” as our guide at booking and were told he was available for our tour but instead Murak showed up. Murak was knowledgeable however he did not attend to details. There were many senior people in our group and one woman even had walking difficulty. Murak did not offered any help or even adjusted the tour pace. when stepping down from the Terrace house, it was really hurting that woman. The guide also left us to socialize with his friends (his own words) in front of the Mary house and after visiting the Great Theater. We were booked to visit Domitian but the guide did not bring us there because the time was running out. As I understand it, the length of the tour was not fixed so we did not really receive what we paid for.

I would like to thank for your comment. These comments, most of the time they are flourishing us and sometimes let us see what we have done wrong unconsciously. When my guests show up at the exit of the harbor till I get them back to ship I like to take care of them and talk to them to be informative so they may have some ideas about my beautiful country and the sites we visit. As you would agree any site would have a way of visiting, at Marry's House we like to company our guests till the entrance of the house, while we are approaching there (there is most of the time a long line and we may have to wait some time meanwhile we informe them about the shrine.) I show them the way back to the bus and give them some free time. I always make sure my guest they have some time on their own because its a religous place and people would love to be left alone to talk to themselves and to God. I personally before leave them alone make sure that I ask if they would like me to take a picture of them with the house or not than leave them and I go to wait them meanwhile they get back to the bus. I talk to other guides ( I dont find talking to people is a mistake) and guest (already been to house). At Ephesus we enter from upper gate and talk all they way down to lower gate and I finish in front of Great Teather just than I let my guest know where is the bus and our driver. I make sure they all figure out the way bus and give them some free time here too beauce at the exit there are some shops they may like to get a souvenir from my amazing country. Just after I give them some free time and I go to find our driver make sure that he gets air condintion on (most of the time Ephesus is hot and I think my guest would love to find a cool bus) so long story short I give two times some free time to my guest and while I wait them to come back I talk to other people ( I love to talk to people I am so outgoing thats why I became a guide I dont think people would appreciate a quite guide). when I guide them in Ephesus till exit and at Mary's House till entrance. I make sure I explain them everything and I stay just with them. Secondly at Terrace Houses, before we entered I inform the party about the steepness and steps. I try to focus on every single body that I have in my group but I also focus most on the history of the site in this case that senior woman in pain I wish she had informed me and I could do anything to make sure that she is ok. While I am busy of guiding the group and someone does not tell me that she is in pain there is no way I could figure that out. And as a person in the group there when you saw that she is in pain I really wish I was told that she is in pain. I never adjust pace, after I explained what I have to go ahead to find a quite corner to give best speech to my gruop (Ephesus is crowded) and wait them to come (they probably would be coming and taking pics) As a result I will make double sure at Terrace Houses and do thank you so much deeply in my heart . Best regards

We took a cruise and stopped at this port. Was met at the terminal on time and had a nice van. There were 8 in our group. We stopped at House of Virgin Mary and had a walk down a big hill and by the time we arrived, lines were long. Our guide took us to the line for the house and said she'd meet us back at the top when we were done. Other tour groups were given bottles to get Holy Water to take home. We had to buy pre-filled ones at the shop. There was also a wishing wall, but you needed paper and we weren't given any, so we couldn't do it. We next went to ruins of Euhesus, our guide brought cat food to feed the roaming cats. I am a total cat lover, so I didn't have a problem with that, but had I not been a cat lover. I may have found it annoying as she was SO overly concerned at feeding them. She seemed fairly knowledgeable and friendly enough. Next she took us to a local restaurant, the food was good and cost us 10 euro a person and the guide ate free for bringing us there. Then we went to carpet factory, while it was neat to see how they made them, They are expensive and you have to go through the sales pitch. Guides get a commission if you buy. Out of all the small group tours we took, this was my least favorite, The guide could have been better and more personable, I felt like we didn't get to visit all the sites we should have. (the description says, You'll see them, which we did. You don't get to visit and spend time with them) I think it was better than a huge boat tour, but it could have been better.

I was on a cruise this past September, and our last port was Kusadasi. While there, we went on a tour of the region. We visited Ephesus and the House of the Virgin Mary. Anyone who is interested in Bible history should definitely go there. The tour guide was terrific, and the sites were amazing. I hope to return sometime soon, as I wish I had spent my total three weeks just there.

While on a Mediterranean cruise, we booked a private tour to Ephesus with Daily Istanbul Tours. Soner responded quickly to arrange the tour with our guide and was amenable when we added 2 additional persons to our tour. We cannot say enough great things about Zeynep. She was very personable and knowledgeable and shared the history of the area very thoroughly. We visited the House of the Virgin Mary and the ancient city of Ephesus. Zeynep allowed us to set our own pace and she took us to locations to take excellent photos and gave us free time to explore on our own. After visiting Ephesus, she offered several options of other things to see in Selcuk including the Turkish school for carpet making where we saw demonstrations by students working in wool and silk. We enjoyed a wonderful Turkish lunch on the grounds. We also elected to visit Rossini leather and were treated to a fashion show and allowed a short time for shopping. We were very impressed with the professional way in which our correspondence was handled by Soner as well as with Zeynep who provided an excellent tour for our group of 4 We highly recommend contacting Daily Istanbul Tours/Ephesus. Thank you, Zeynep - we had a wonderful tour!

We were touring the Greek Isles on the Wind Spirit (that's another great experience) and saw the prices that the cruise was going to charge us, so I did a quick TripAdvisor lookup while we were still at sea and got a quick reply back from the owner that one of his best guides was available the next day for a private tour for three couples (all in our mid-50's). The price was about 30% cheaper than the ship's tour service and I confirmed the entire experience within 30 minutes.

"Isyk" (pronounced Ishick) was a delightful woman with impeccable English who met us at the dock - exactly when and where it was promised! The day's tour was really memorable...she took us to the House of Mary, then on to Ephesus, then to several other ruins. Our final stop was at a "carpetorium" which was a real treat - carpet after carpet was brought out for us to admire, and despite our wives' best effort to find something they liked, ultimately we left without a purchase. There was very little pressure from the cooperative's management, but there were free beverages and we learned a lot about carpet making.

Isyk's knowledge of the ruins at Ephesus was excellent - she started us at the upper entrance, which made our tour easier as it was almost all downhill. She took great pains to explain what we were seeing, often adding local "color" to the place.

I can't recommend bestofephesus.com more highly than the five stars I've already given it. Don't hesitate to book a tour with them - we loved Isyk's humor and knowledge and our 5 hours with her gave us a real insight into life in Turkey and the area around Ephesus.

A really great find and a gem of a tour service!

If you're going to book one private tour for your eastern Mediterranean cruise, do it for your Ephesus shore excursion, and do it through Best Ephesus Private Tours. Not only will you be saving alot of money versus the ship-booked excursion, but you'll be getting a knowledgeable guide, fluent in English, who will allow you to customize your itinerary to suit your own personal interests. You will be picked up right at dockside, and transported in a late model air conditioned Mercedes. Note that this tour company provides you with both a driver and a tour guide, so that your guide can accompany you throughout your tour of Ephesus, while the driver moves the car from the upper entrance to the lower exit. Our guide, Yusef, even joined us for lunch at the restaurant in nearby Sirince that I had selected myself. The guide will even provide you with a water bottle and umbrella, if necessary, and pre-bought admission tickets (not included with tour fee) so as to avoid waiting in long lines. Be sure to request a tour of the ongoing excavations at the Terrace Houses, which are fascinating, but by-passed by all the large bus tour groups. As you are free to customize your tour, you can avoid the time consuming visits to the carpet, leather, and jewelry factories (sometimes with hard-sell sales pitches) that are staples of the other tours, if you so desire. However if you wish to do some shopping back at the port after the tour, your guide will direct you to the shops that give you the best value and highest quality of merchandise.

Our guide Hakan was great, he had a good energy and was very accommodating with us. The car was comfortable and we got to see the all the most amazing parts of the area at our own speed.
Very relaxing lunch at the end.
