Not a really special place, but what is special and why deserves the walk to it if in the area is the fact that might be the real cave (as the true location is not accurate).

Cave of the Seven Sleepers (a.k.a. Grotto of the Seven Sleepers) is about 2 km west of Selcuk town center (there are some road signs to help navigation). The site contains a burial complex from the 3rd century. According to legends, the Seven Sleepers, were seven young Christian men who slept in a cave to avoid persecution during the reign of Emperor Decius (249-251). The seven sleepers are considered saints by Catholics and Orthodox Christians, and are mentioned in the Qur'an. In the mid 5th century, a cult was established in a ten-chambered catacomb and a church erected on the surface. It was a Christian pilgrimage site in the Early to Middle ages. I was underwhelmed when I visited the site. There are remains of basement walls, vault and arches with some fencing to keep people from falling in open pits. An interpretive sign in Turkish, English, and German has a few photos from archaeological excavations and some information about the burial complex. Dozens of terracotta lamps were recovered from the site. Sturdy shoes, water and a hat are recommended, as walking surfaces are uneven, and there is little shade.
