I had the pleasure of booking a private tour with this agency back in November to visit Fanar, Fatih and Balat. The tour was excellent, organised in all the details. The tour guide Mr. Kadir was very punctual, he came at the hotel at the agreed timing and explained everything step by step. He is very knowledgable and pleasant to go around with. The tour was in Italian language and his Italian was impeccable. His English is equally impeccable as I've heard him speaking English to others. The tour was a walking one around the above mentioned areas, and it was very enlightening about many historic and cultural aspects of this amazing city. Highly recommended.

It was kind of unusual to have a Fatih, Fener and Balat tour first before seeing the Touristic sites, but I really enjoyed it. Touring with Kadir around these Districts really made me understand and experience the different communities that make up Istanbul. I appreciate the explanations (and visual aids! Omg) of the Sites that we visited - Fatih Mosque, the Greek College, St.Mary of the Mongols Church, and Chora Museum - the subtle differences of the architecture of the old houses, the changes in the clothing of the people we saw -as we walk through the three neighborhoods, being able to buy local food at the neighborhood markets - i.e. Pistachios, local sweets (chickpea covered in sesame), that scrumptious Chocolate Chip pistachio cookie we got at a bakery in Little Malta - which I probably wouldn't be able to do on my own, and just being at awe at the unexpected Views we see at every turn that we make. If only the responded promptly to my emails this would've been an Excellent Rating - I wasn't sure at the beginning if I would be able to book a tour with them or not, but its all good now.

We discovered Scoprire Istanbul via a some other visitors' experience in a quite famous Italian blog who were extremely satisfied and we decided to contact this team via their official website to ask information and quotations. This happened just few days before our departure and we weren't sure to receive requested info on time . The Scoprire Istanbul team is extremely fast in answering and very helpful so this gave us already a good impression and we decided to do a walking tour with them. My husband and I enrolled a guided walking tour of the area of Fatih, Fener e Balat on Saturday July 12 and we were extremely satisfied by this unique and unconventional experience with a very well prepared guide that links historical, religious , cultural, and gastronomy experiences. This is exactely what we were looking for , in fact we don't like standard touristic trips and we normally travel on our own. We would recommend anybody who wants to see Istanbul with different eyes to do the same ,because the experience will be unforgettable the only comment is that the tour implies quite intensive walking for 5-6 hours almost non stop and this can be quite hard especially in summer when weather is extremely hot.Last but not least , price was very reasonable an excellent value for money.

I recently led a group of 27 college students and advisors on a study tour to Istanbul, and I chose to include a walking tour of the Fener and Balat neighborhoods in the itinerary. I found Scopire Istanbul through a web search. Gianluca, the proprietor, responded that his company focused mainly on the Italian market but wanted to expand into the English market, and he offered a very competitive price for the group. The tour was outstanding. Our guide, Ece, was both knowledgeable and friendly, and she made the excursion a special event. The tour lasted from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm and was never dull. This tour is really a spectacular thing to do if you have more than a couple of days in Istanbul. The Fetih, Fener and Balat neighborhoods are rich in history and are attractive in their own unique ways. The tour ends at the Kariye Museum (formerly the Church of the Holy Saviour in Chora), which is one of my favorite sites in Istanbul for its Byzantine frescoes and mozaics. Note that entry into this museum is not included in the tour fee; you'll need to budget another 15 lira per person. I have one criticism to make that does not involve the tour itself but rather the back-office function of the company. Specifically, they are VERY slow in responding to emails. I sent my first email, asking about the possibility of (and price for) a group tour, on March 31; the response was not sent until April 4. I then wrote back on April 5 agreeing to the tour and asking for a confirmation; the response was not sent until April 16 (after I sent a second request for confirmation on April 13). Then, on May 10, the company sent me a reconfirmation for the wrong date. I immediately responded with a correction of the date and and a request for a reconfirmation; they did not write back to me until May 15.
