The Armada Hotel in Istanbul is a unique city hotel as well as a cultural meeting center for the locals who care for preserving of the cultural heritage and the way of life of this city. One can see how it preserves, reserves and serve of these values in its specially prepared site called "IstanbulCulture" including its building, interior decoration items, restoration of the surrounding old timber houses by giving function and revitalize them and the others... The Armada Boat is one of the latest great project of Armada. In the 19th century, Istanbul residents used to spent their summer days on the city shores of the Bosphorus, the Golden Horn, and in locations such as Göksu and Küçüksu. And they created a refined and sophisticated waterfront culture. First they travelled in various types of caiques then touring boats. In the early 20th century, larger excursion boats appeared which is still missed... As far as I learned The Armada Boat was designed after a long survey of those old boats and constructed in Tuzla, as a mixture of past and high technology. They asked themselves: “What was it about Istanbul’s excursion boats of old that made them special? What made them so charming that people still miss them today? If they had been properly preserved, what kind of excursion boat would we see today?” For the last couple of years The Armada Boat is sailing in Golden Horn and the Bosphorus. It is being hired for special occasions & events. But the Full Moon tours is open to public. I've been to one of them last week and enjoyed very much. The wonderful crew, the tasty snacks and drinks, the elegant atmosphere, the beauty of the continuously changing views... I recommend everyone to try at least once in a lifetime experience...

If you are planning a small wedding in Istanbul, I cannot recommend the Armada Boat highly enough. We had an amazing day and everything was taken care off it without any problem. The staff went above and beyond what was expected from them. Funda was amazing and organised everything for us which can be difficult when you are in the UK. Nothing was to much trouble. Our day was a day we and our family will remember for years to come. Thank you all for making our special day so perfect.

We booked the Armada boat to take our out of town guests on a private Bosphorus tour the evening before our wedding. The enter trip from start to finish was amazing. We arranged with Armada ahead of time to provide food and drinks for our evening and they worked with us to set up a menu that included a mix of local turkish cuisines and international appetizers that would ensure all of our guests were satisfied. All of the food was fantastic and the service was beyond our expectations. All of the staff were so accommodating to our guests and made us feel extremely special given that it was our wedding weekend. They took care of everything and all we had to do was show up. They even were willing to drop us off at a different port to make it easier for our guests to continue on with their evening. The boat itself was beautiful and high end, not like some of the other boat tours where the interiors and such are cheap or dirty. I would highly recommend taking a trip on this boat if you have the opportunity. We still have guests from the wedding telling us the boat cruise was the highlight of their trip to Istanbul.

I wanted to surprise my cousin and his girlfriend who are staying in Istanbul for a few days with this cruise. So I called the land line given on the homepage (Landline: 0 212 455 44 55). There, I was told about the prices and also that the two participants could be picked up at their hotel. We fixed the date (today, Friday evening 25.09.) and I prepared an e-mail with the information as discussed (names, hotel, room number,...). All facts were repeated to ensure right understanding. As the reservation was short term I called again this morning (Landline). The receptionist forwarded my call to the reservation department (I guess from the Armada Hotel). As no one was answering, the receptionist gave me the number of Funda DAĞLI on my second call. So I called her and I was told that they were only doing full moon cruises, or you had to make a private reservation and that the boat was reserved anyway today. I was astonished about this and told her about my phone call earlier and her answer was that she couldn't imagine that this happened and hung up on me... I see two things in this. The first one could be a misunderstanding, which is still difficult to imagine as facts were repeated and I was clearly told about what I should inform them about. Also the date was repeated several times. But ok, maybe it was a new employee who was not yet informed. Things like that can happen. But something else is hanging up on a person who wants to book your services is a whole other level. Especially as I was not rude, not insulting and I was ready to change the date or look for another solution as I really fell in love with the pictures of the boat and I was sure the two (my cousin and his girlfriend) would have loved it. But like that? No. Extremely impolite and unkind.

Response from Armada1994, Director of Sales at The Armada Boat

We are really sorry about to hear the unlucky experience and lack of communication you had while trying to make a reservation for the Armada Boat. As we mentioned before, we organize only full moon tours which individuals can participate in. It seems like your email has been replied just according to this basic information by the Armada Hotel team however the evening you tried to book for your cousin, was already booked. Since the phone call was an overseas call the number did not show up on caller id and we could not get back to you once the phone got cut off (not hang up). Armada Hotel team and Boat crew is very sensitive on passing out correct information and our guests for sure are very valuable for us, so we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and misunderstanding.

We recently took a dinner cruise on the Armada. We first headed down and out the Golden Horn, made a U-turn, and then headed up the Bosphorus to close to the second bridge. By the time we turned to return, it was dark. The buildings that were lit up were beautiful. The bridges were lit up as well. The crew was very helpful and courteous. Several kinds of appetizers were served (the servers were very attentive). This was followed by a buffet dinner. Everything was excellent.
