My family and I visited this restaurant back in August while in Istanbul. It was a bit difficult to find but we managed and arrived there at around 8 pm. The place was empty inside with only 2 tables busy outside. We sat inside next to the window but soon moved tables as the people on the table outside were smoking and the smoke was coming directly on us. There are no individual dishes and they serve little dishes to be shared as a meze. They bring a tray with the dishes and you choose the ones you want. The dishes were quite tasteful and nice but nothing very special. The service was good and quick. It was a Friday night and we left the restaurant at about 10 pm and it was still empty. Although it was not a terrible experience I would not go back and would rather try a different place.

When here upon guide book recommendation, and it wasn't as bad as some of the reviews on here make out. It appeared that we got there before the rush so there was plenty of empty tables to choose from which was good as the places filled up quickly (we got there around 8pm). The service was reasonable. We had for starters: the Kofte (cocktail meatballs) and Fried Liver & Mushrooms. The kofte was the nicest we've had so far here in Istanbul and plenty of them for a starter. The (lambs) liver & mushrooms was the best dish we had that night and we could have eaten more of it, again a good sized portion and really tasty and soft and tender. For main we had the Sea Bass (freshly got that day we were assured and I believe them too!) which was whole and grilled served with rocket and red onion (big raw slices) which I loved although the onion was rather strong! Also we had the sauted meat casserole, this tasted ok and was well cooked but for the cost and compared to the other dishes we had, it was the least value for money and was a little disappointing. The red wine was ok too although better with the food than drank on its own! The place it's self had a buzz as it got busier, looked like a traditional tavern and there was nothing fake about it like some of the places we've looked at seam to be. Well worth a visit if you want to try somewhere authentic with history!
