This Egyptian Obelisk was brought and placed here in the middle of Hippodrome (which no longer exists.) Read the history before you visit to get the most out of it.

It is an ancient Turkish obelisk located near the Blue Mosque. There are some souvenir shops opposite this obelisk. Hieroglyphic scripts are printed on this tower.

Built on the site of the ancient hippodrome equine race track of old Constantinople...near the Blue Mosque in the Historic district. Similar to the Washington Monument or Paris' Place de la Concorde, but with etchings...good for a pic or two.

This structure stands in the square between Hagia Sofia and The Blue Mosque and is a must see site. It is within easy reach of Sultanhamet Tram Stop.
