This is a fountain built by Sultan Ahmet III around 1720 so much newer than the Topkapi Palace for which it is a popular (and logical) meeting point. Unlike some other fountains on the hippodrome this one is a complete building and worth a photo...More

I honestly didn’t know this was even an attraction, until I took a closer look and noticed the inscription that the Fountain of Ahmet III replaced a Byzantine fountain named Perayton, and was constructed in 1729. The fountain is located behind the Hagia Sophia, and...More

The Fountain of Sultan Ahmed III (built 1728) is a small building containing multiple water spigots (currently not working). The architecture synthesizes traditional Ottoman and contemporary western styles. A square kiosk supports five small domes, with mihrab-shaped niches containing foliate and floral reliefs in each...More

Seemed there are two Fountains of Ahmet III in Istanbul. One is in front of Topkapi Palace and the other one in Asian side of Istanbul. Somehow most reviews here point towards the one in front of Topkapi Palace. I'll go along with the majority....More

You could quite literally walk past this and not realise what it was. Fortunately there is an information needle to read. These are great and are dotted all over the area adjacent to all sites of interest.

Home to more than half a million residents, Uskudar on
the Asian side of the Bosphorus is one of Istanbul’s
most densely populated neighborhoods. Once a Greek
colony, later a haven for people from across the
Mediterranean and the Middle East, this gateway to
Asia has been an active and diverse hub for eons.
Still, visitors to Uskudar are often more overcome by
its myriad treasures than by its many thousand
