On a snowy day in February, this is a super place to visit. The art and it's curation is some of the best of seen - on level with London and beats New York without any real competition (perhaps The Walker in Minneapolis is its real rival?) The only reason it isn't as world class as the Tate is: 1) is entrance - pedestrians aren't catered for, only car drivers. Walking through a parking lot, then airport style security to get to the art - well, it sucks. 2) the cost- how lucky we are to have free museums in London. If you are used to paying, then skip this comment. Like most places and things in Istanbul , it isn't very expensive . It is perfectly situated on the Bosphorus; through one eye, one can watch boats slowly cruise up and down, leisurely and gracefully, whilst looking at amazing art through the corner of the other eye. Sublime. Go. Enjoy. Relax. Grow more neurons. You, your brain and nervous system deserve it.

The museum is amzing in all of the items that it have and all of the art work that are displayed. so many items are amazingly precious and artistic and some wont click in your artistic graph. The most amazing of the whole set up and what you will view was the security guards. I paid my ticket entrance an started roaming the museum when after almost 30 mins i had 2 security guards follwing me and informing me that I have dropped some money from my pocket. Blondely and as I wasnt so sure that it was for me as I paid for so many things that day, I told them that its not mine and the guards left. after almost 5 mins they came back telling me that they played back the camera roll and they saw there that i am the one who dropped the money out of his pocket and they were sure of it. It felt really amazing how secure the place is and how nice the staff are...

The Istanbul Modern is an extremely interesting gallery of contemporary art, linking eastern and western styles. Well laid out and with information in both Turkish and English, it is easy to see the progression of Turkish artists in the 20th century. I honestly felt it was one of the best galleries I have visited, rivalling the Tate Modern in London. It has an excellent restaurant and very clean facilities too. Unmissable if you want to see what modern Turkey has to offer in a city of great historical culture.
