Neighborhood: Grand Bazaar
Tourists, hawkers, and locals come together at the Grand Bazaar to comb its labyrinthine passageways in search of a bargain – be it a pair of brand name jeans, a handcrafted silk rug, or a perfectly brewed cup of tea. Outside the vast bazaar, worn, narrow streets wind their way down from its lofty perch to the southern shore of the Golden Horn, where the evocatively aromatic Spice Bazaar beckons alongside the elegant New Mosque (opened in 1665). Nearby, the famed Galata Bridge offers pedestrian access to urban delights across the river in Istanbul’s more residential and contemporary neighborhoods, while the must-see sights of Sultanahmet are but a leisurely stroll away.

The Bayezid Mosque (Beyazit) was built by the Ottoman Sultan Bayezid II in 1500-1506, half a century after the fall of Constantinople. The mosque is located on the square of the same name. Nowadays the mosque looks magnificent both externally and in its interior decoration. It’s easy to see this during your walk along Divan Yolu Street...

This is the oldest imperial mosque. It is located close to the Gran Bazaar and the University of Istanbul. It is walking distance from Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque. I like the Beyazit Mosque. It has been recently restored. I looks very clean with impressive white walls. The interior is discrete. Walls are painted. The ablutions fountain and the internal patio are very nice. Not many people visit this mosque. the visit is actually relaxing.
Like most other mosques, there is no entrance fee. When I visited Istanbul in 2014, the mosque was under restoration. Now is perfect.
I suggest to dedicate one day to visit the Imperial Mosques. If so, do it in a historical order. You may start at Hagia Sophia; then visit the Beyazit Mosque; continue to the Prince Mosque and then go to the Suleyman Mosque. Finish with a visit to the Blue Mosque (Sultan Ahmed). Jut walk.

Another beautiful mosque, are there any that are not? Stunning architecture and you wonder how they were built with such ornate designs. This was the third one that we visited whilst in the city and the least busy. As per others make sure you respect the dress code and check the prayer times so as not to be disappointed.

I stumbled upon this mosque when I was arriving at the Eminonu Pier from my trip to Kadikoy. I thought it was the Blue Mosque, the vendor selling corn and chestnuts told me it was the New Mosque.
Similar to other mosques, I had to take off my shoes here, no need to cover my head as I was wearing a hat.
I admired how huge this mosque is. Its ceilings and walls have beautiful paintings and designs. The columns have gold color motiffs. There is circular lightings at the middle of this mosque.
There are no lines, no hordes of tourists looking for the perfect spots to take pictures. I wondered why it was not as famous as the Blue Mosque and Hagai Sofia. Its location is perfect, can be seen as the ferry approaches the Eminonu Pier. Highly recommended to visit it.

It's an ottoman mosque very famous especially with its square, when you can feed pigeons, the mosque is under construction today, it was more than a year, and it still the construction. I love to take photos from outside the mosque within the square.

One of the bests places in the city. Situated next to the Grand Bazaar, this mosque depicts Islamic art and history. It was commissioned by Sultan Bayezid II of the Ottoman Empire and it later went on to undergo many changes till date.

Its a little way out of town, with a captivating, multi-domed mosque complex of austere beauty, startlingly stranded amongst ploughed fields. We were advised that it was closed for renovation but pressed on to see its overall geometry.
The walled enclosure housed a health museum with consulting rooms and a small garden sheltered by an arcade. At the end of the two arches is the healing house where for 400 years those with mental illnesses could be treated with meathods like music, odours and the sound of flowing water. Each room has life-size figures illustrating various aspects of therapy.

This mosque is in close proximity to Istanbul University and Grand Bazaar. Like any other mosques in Istanbul, the architecture or the interior looks very similar although it was closed for renovation but the exterior of this mosque is fascinating to look at. It is one of the oldest mosques in Istanbul. It is in a very busy area especially when it is next to the busy bazaar.

Beautiful mosque from the outside, couldn't really see much of the inside due to renovation. Located right by Grand Bazaar.
