This mosque was positioned on a hill overlooking the harbor at Eminonu. Today, the local pigeons make their home in its graceful domes and arches.

Watch out for the dive bombing pigeons! They sell bird feed right outside the steps so the pigeons are everywhere. This has a beautiful interior and is a little more subdued that then Blue Mosque. It is right next to the Spice Bazaar.

The interior of this mosque was spectacular. It was such a surprise, as it doesn't seem to show up on the list of top attractions. It is right by the spice market area, so very easy to stop in to see.

I probably enjoyed seeing this mosque as much as any. It was beautiful inside and you were able to walk around. Near the Spice Market so worth stopping while you're there.

Having been to Istanbul several times, I have missed this mosque before, to focus on the other, more famous ones. However, this is well worth a visit. Beautifully decorated and very active, as a working mosque.

A rather pretty mosque at the foot of the Galata Bridge, this was started more than 400 years ago but took more than half a century to complete ---- slow work for Turks. Originally, it was surrounded by a complex including schools, a hospital, library....More

From the busy streets you enter the oasis of colour and harmony that is the mosque. You take your shoes off and walk on a soft carpet as you gaze up at the wonderful tiled patterns on all the walls and domes. Prayers were happening...More

This was the very first mosque we visited and set me on a pace to visit as many as I possibly could during my stay. As everyone knows, the "new" mosque is actually quite old. It is not as huge as the Blue Mosque or...More

Don't miss this mosque. I liked it just as much as the famous Blue Mosque and it's not nearly as crowded.

This mosques carries the look of old ottomon style architecture but is a new mosque with lovely interiors. Located nearby the Spice Bazaar in Eminonue its worth a visit and definitely a pleasant experience for the praying soul.

evocatively aromatic Spice Bazaar beckons alongside

Yes it is. But not for tourists. So the mosque is open, but there is a huge sign and staff watching over. If you want to go for prayer (if you're muslim), it's ok. Blue mosque, likewise is opened I believe all night long... More
