This vast and impressive estate on the Asian side of Istanbul is definitely a must visit for those who love parks and gardens.
Especially in April and May, during the tulip festival organized by the municipality of Istanbul, the gardens become fairy like with all colors of tulips, hyacinths and daffodils and other spring flowers. There is even a waterfall within the gardens.
There is a nice trekking and jogging path inside the estate (with slopes though). There is also a café where you can either have only a drink or breakfast or lunch. A small flower and seed market is also available for visitors. There is a large parking lot at the entrance of the estate. The main building is currently under construction but even the façade is remarkable bearing the major style of late 19th century Ottoman architecture.
When compared with other parks and gardens of the city, Hidiv Kasri is less crowded, has a much more impressive view of Bosphorus and is much more natural with almost being a forest itself.

Since this is one of the beautiful historical palaces in Istanbul, you should definitely see it. You can walk inside the flowers and trees. You can watch Istanbul and look at the bridge that brings Asian and European sides together. You can also have breakfast inside the palace. Not the best and not cheap breakfast, but there were various dishes that you can still enjoy.

Yesterday I was at Khedive's Palace Restaurant at Kanlica (on the Asian side of Bosphorus) with 4 American guests and we thoroughly enjoyed our meals there, every one of us. The restaurant has both great indoor setting for colder days and a beautiful terrace that overlooks the woods and the Bosphorus. Very serene and relaxing place. However the menu was very extensive and they have great Ottoman, Turkish and contemporary dishes including very good steaks. Extremely good tasting meals were waiting for us.
The mixed grill, the rib eye steak, the grilled salmon, the hunkar begendi (eggplant with cheese puree with sauteed lamb chunks) and Khedive kebab were absolutely great dishes, all around 20-25 TL each. With our soft drinks, soups and salad, the whole bill amounted to 155 TL, or about 14 USD/person. A magnificent value for a very good service and tasty meals.
The restaurant does not serve alcoholic drinks though.
I highly recommend Khedive's Palace Restaurant (Hidiv Kasrı Restoranı) for everyone. Just enjoying the palace gardens is a nice relaxing way to spend the afternoon.

View and flowers are fantastic. But service and food is so so. You pay 25 TL for a weekend brunch, you get 15TL worth food and service. To wander ariund, you don't have to pay a dime, which is the most beautiful part. Go in spring to see all the tulips.

Beautiful garden, beautiful little palace surrounded by marble terraces but I do not recommend to go to the weekend brunch! It's expensive compared to its quality. You can go just for a quick visit.
However, there is one thing the cooks of Hidiv Kasri are excellent to prepare: cream puffs, or let's say profiterole with tahini (it is called "Hidiv'in lokması" there). An unforgettable taste, a classic since many years...

The palace now turned into a restaurante, is a very pleasant place, located in the neighbouhood of Beykoz on top of a hill. It is surrounded by a beautiful garden and the views are great.
The food served is good. Desserts are delicious.

It is one of best view of Istanbul. Historicl place surrounded by many trees. I especially like the linden trees. We sat at the coffee shop. The service was very fast. The proce are reasonable. You need a car to go there.
It is nice to walk around, so will like the nature and the flower setting. It has a small playground for young children.
Enjoy

Hidiv Kasri is a nice place to escape Istanbul's maddening crowds, you can combine a bit oh history with some welcome peace and quiet and a shady sanctuary on a summers day. Hidiv was the title to Ottoman Empire's vice regal ruler of Egypt and this graceful building was built by the last vice regal (Khedive). You can simply walk the grounds and/or have a quiet tea or coffee or if you come here in time for breakfast for about 30TL you can have a grand breakfast (open buffet) in which case you wouldn't need any food for many hours after!!!

The pavillion is completely converted into a restaurant and serves buffet breakfast everyday. The quality and the wide selection of food was far beyond my expectations. It is a bit crowded but taking the price (30,5 TL per person) into account, it should much more crowded. I would actually pay 50 TL or even more for what I get. After the brunch or breakfast, you can have a 20-minute walk in the Çubuklu woods, surrounding the pavillion.
