Very poor instructions on what to do and when, very grumpy staff. Time will tell if the pain of the scrub and oil massage was worth it.... I kept being harassed to give a tip in cash to each member of staff! Not pleasant. Wouldn't go again.

A good experience of the Hamam at this location. I thought it was a bit expensive for what was on offer but the experience was worth it. I had read that after you’ve been washed and scrubbed then the best thing is to wash it all off and go back into the hot slab room. I had to be firm about going back in but glad I did. The Indian Head Massage was very good and could have lasted a bit longer for the money - 30 minutes for £60 was a bit short changing customers. Then the insistence on a tip for each of the ‘service providers’. I enjoyed it but I think I would want a place that offered better value for money.

The experience is authentic and you feel you are going back in time which I guess reflects the age of this place. The massage was very good and I felt invigorated after I hit fresh air. The only thing letting the experience down was the repeated pressure to tip, not only from the guy giving the massage, but also the guy providing the towels.

No appointments needed for this place, just walk in (which was very important for us). A very traditional ambience, and it is quietly hidden away in the bustling busy streets close to the Hagia Sophia. After a long day of walking and site seeing, the bath took us back in time. You come in and they give you a small kit that includes the disposable body lufa. You are directed into the changing room where you change into your towel. Then you are directed into the Sauna, which is the large octagonal marble slab shown in the pictures . Spend some time there, and your attendant comes in to scrub you down. He's really rough, but it's a part of the experience and you feel really clean after that. Then you take a shower and then change back into your clothes. Chai and water are paid for separately. I had a wonderful experience. My wife did not have a similar pleasant experience. Her scrubber showed little interest and her scrubbing finished in a couple of minutes. Also be prepared to be hassled for tips, which I guess is a part of the traditional experience too.

Felt more like being channeled through a production line instead of having a relaxing experience. Most irritating was the brazen requests for tips for even the most menial tasks. This certainly was the case in the male section. Fortunately my female companions did not encounter similar requests on their side of the hamam. This was my third Turkish bath in Istanbul and by far my least favourite. Its convenience adjacent to the Grand Bazaar is its unique selling point. If you decide to plan a visit to a hamam whilst you are in Istanbul, I'd advise looking beyond Cemberlitas, as there are much more pleasant offerings available.

I came here today with my mom. The building is beautiful, when you go inside the hamam you travel back in time and it’s so easy to imagine how it used to be back in the days. The lady at reception was a bit rude and gave me the wrong price while I was specifying which services my mom and I wanted. The whole experience felt a bit rushed and careless. The bath lasted 10 minutes, then I was being rushed to get an oil massage (which was included in the package I purchased). The massage was good I could tell from the way she was touching me that the massage therapist knew what to do. Again, it was mean to be 50 minutes but felt way less. I was in the same room with other people with all the massage beds parallels to each other ( I didn’t mind at all) but could hear people shouting next door which was taking away the atmosphere. After that I decided to go back inside the hamam and enjoy a bit more the heat and the beautiful building. Drinks were not included and when not busy, staff was rushing to go back to their phones (some parts of the hamam were left unattended, which deserved a bit more attention). Won’t rush back.

It was a great experience! Being American and more puritanical than most cultures, it was a bit uncomfortable letting someone scrub my body while I just laid there on marble naked with just panties on ! It was a very different experience but it was great ! My massage person wasn’t the friendliest but I guess it was because of the language barrier … I really couldn’t understand what she was saying and she got frustrated! All in all I’m glad I did with my family because the place inside is incredible ! The marble is insane ! I never felt cleaner after walking out of there ! Lol When in Istanbul i would recommend this Turkish bath because it’s quite an experience and you shouldn’t miss it !

This venue is literally upon you when you alight the tram, so no searching needed; although that wouldn't be an issue in Istanbul's magical surroundings. I really enjoyed my massage and you can feel the history of the place, plus it looks amazing. I didn't feel a pressure to tip. The guy carrying out the massage did mention it was a tip service, so I just gave him 100 lira (he continued wiping my face down with a towel after as I was sweating) and the guy manning the changing rooms I gave 50 lira. I purchased an orange juice on my way out and that was the same price as it is locally. It was a great experience, although I do want to try other hamams in the future.
