We are lucky that we choose our hotel to be on this area. All the historical sites are so near and is one of the most famous and quite but also busy sometimes of the week area. It is very well organized and clean. Apart from the historical buildings everything is so near, shops, markets, all famous sweet shops, restaurants... More

If you really want a change its definitely worth it. the whole area is great. From the new Shops, restaurant, you go through an alley and you find yourself in a whole new era. e walked down from Top Kapi to the Grand Bazaar then the Spice Market to end up near the Galata Bridge with a fish sandwich to... If you really want to experience the true old Istanbul. be sure to book your accommodation in Sultanahmet. This cobble-stone old city is steeped in history and character and you would be surrounded by historical buildings, dozens of small hotels and restaurants plus very close to taxi and tram transport.

This place is really called heart of Istanbul, mixture of hestrolical place with religion with old market all in one place . Every visitor must try the Turkish ice cream in this place and the food in public restaurants ( shawarma

Where else can you stand in the middle of a park like setting with a beautiful fountain and stare at both the Blue Mosque and the Hagia Sofia! And lit up at night they are beyond belief.

This is the area to stay in if you want most of the historical must sees in Istanbul within walking distance. I have a slight disability but managed to walk to most of the sights. The old cobbled paths can be a bit of a problem but with a bit of care shouldn't be an issue. Be wary of being... More

In our opinion, we found this the best area to stay, as everything was in walking distance from our hotel (Constantine). Very quaint streets, lined with plenty restaurants and shops.

This is where most of the history is. It is a great place to visit. Some nice cafes and restaurants around there. However, I preferred staying in the Takim area

We stayed in the Sultanahmet District when we were in Istanbul for a few days. Getting a hotel in this district puts you at the heart of all of the historic attractions; including the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, the Topkapi Palace and the Grand Bazaar. There are alot of restaurants and cafes in the area as well as a... More

Being centrally located to all the major attractions, its very convenient for travelers who loves to explore the city by foot ! Everything is only walking distance , especially the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sofia , Grand Bazar and much much more. Loads of restaurants, sweet shops, hotels and many shopping centers all around the area. Bustling with activities everywhere. A... More

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
