This enormous palace was the Imperial residence of Ottoman sultans for almost 400 years. Although much of the palace is not accessible, the daily tours of the Harem are of great interest to tourists.

Spent a fascinating morning visiting the palace and harem. No queue for tickets but had got there early. The layout flows well so didn't miss anything and there was plenty of information on the signs. Large number of pavilions with different displays - gifts of...More

Despite reading a lot about this palace prior to our visit, my friend and I did not expect it to be that grand (note that we went there after visiting both Aya Sofya and Blue Mosque, and were still impressed by it). Its location by...More

The palace, the exhibitions, the harem - all are amazing, full of glitter, wealth, colors, beauty and spaciousness characteristic of the culture and you should definitely take your time to see all these. Still, the view over Golden Horn and Bosphorus from the balcony was...More

A very crowded huge park, a great number of buildings you aren`t able to memorize, plenty of beautiful things and a great view at the end of the park. It`s very interesting if you are familiar with historical events that took place in this palace....More

Turkey's equivalent of China's Forbidden City. Very large, ornate, and interesting design. We toured on a rainy day, and also did the Harem tour. Good for a few hours of touring and seeing how the old sultanate lived.

The Topkapi Palace is almost too much! There is so much to see it is nearly overwhelming, but it is also one of the best places to really get a sense for what life was like surrounding the Sultan. The buildings and rooms are beautiful,...More

Nice palace, but was underwhelmed! Not as impressive as I hoped for. Be sure to get there early because it gets really crowded.

I could spend all day here. The site is vast anyway, but it's so tranquil, it's great just to sit on the grass and day-dream back to the great days of the sultanate with their unbelievable power and riches. Don't take a guide, just wander!

Hey, there. It's a walk you will take longer than all the nearby areas, but it's always worth it a walk in Istanbul!
