    High prices
This airport is huge and plush. Getting through and around was good. However, as per my regular visits to Antalya everything inside it is obscenely expensive. I was stunned got McDonalds nearly 4 times uk prices. Elsewhere prices were so steep. Beware

Most Overpriced Duty Free I've Been To
Incredibly overpriced, makes the duty free portion a bit pointless. Alcohol selections were marked up way high. A 750ml bottle of standard Glenlivet 12yr was ~$80 where in the US it generally costs $50 (+ tax/duty so ~$55).

    Duty Free...Overpriced
If the new airport is original in terms of architecture, it is not very pretty aesthetically. This concrete monster is a bit pretentious. Difficult to find your way and would benefit from better indications for arrivals and departures. Regarding Duty Free...flee the prices are exorbitant. They would like the airport staff to be more welcoming and warm.

    We're not pigeons!
Very nice airport. However the shops inside are interest free, and especially OVERPRICED!! Tourists are really praying for pigeons!! To eat is also nonsense, I took a Doner keebab (which was very good nonetheless..!) and a beer: Addition: 1456TL is more than 40€...!!! You really take people for c...!! Amazing! Plan your purchases before arriving at the airport!👍

    excellent experience
the Istanbul airport is very big and beautiful and it’s duty free shops are big and every items available there chocolates perfumes jewelry gifts item and many many more . Prices are little bit high and very expensive but it’s ok. Overall beautiful airport and best duty free shopping. I went to this duty free store in Istanbul week before Saturday where I got the fridge magnet of Istanbul and it cost only 5 euros which is not too bad on the way to the cruise terminal and I liked this duty free store it is very expensive and it is an excellent experience as well and hopefully I will go back to this duty free store in Istanbul in the future.

The era in which you could find excellent deals on gadgets, perfumes, accessories, cigarettes and clothing is over. Prices have skyrocketed. If you get hungry and thirsty... better get lost. I paid the stratospheric sum of €5.00 for a 250ml carbonated water. If you settle for plain water you can get by with €1.50, always 250ml.

a. Missed my connecting flight through Istamboul due to a late outgoing flight from Cairo. Turkish Airlines hosted me in a hotel overnight and accepted to extend it into a 24 hr. layover. That's a whole day to visit. Minor inconvenience, I had to fork out $30 USD cash for an entry visa.

b. Hired a driver through EuroPark hotel, to drive me 14 km to the sites and pick me up same place at the end of the day. The driver didn't show on the return pick up. EuroPark hotel arranged for another driver.

c. Splendid visits to Hagia Sophia and the Topkapi palace. Turkey does a great job of preserving its monuments in pristine shape.

Prices are mentioned in Euros but they charge your credit card in Turkish Lira with an horrible exchange rate that you end up paying substantially more than the price tag. I bought a watch for around 4000 Euros. My credit card was charged another 170 Euros plus the normal commission charged by the bank for using abroad (which is normal). The 170 is their rip off. So when buying there make your accounts, ask twice etc..

Since Istanbul is a great place for shopping, and many tourists come for shopping. You should consider for getting tax refund in the Airport. Their new policy is checking the purchase item with its tax free print after the passport control and security check, So you shouldn't put the items in your luggage and you must have item for showing. Although in previous years they don't have such policy and just by showing the tax free print they would approved refund, but now the Airport assign an angry person for checking items, for a long line of people. And also after waiting long time in line, they may don't approve some of your items and says that your purchase isn't available in the our system. Unfortunately nobody say this process to me before.

Nothing has changed despite all the reviews. They keep on charging your credit card with an horrible exchange rate. Apart from that nothing is duty free there except cigarettes. You get anything there cheaper in your local supermarket. Clothes and watch prices are a complete joke. Perfumes are cheaper in any retailer in Europe. What was once a good duty free shop experience at the old Atatürk Airport is now a shopping mall with 5th Avenue prices.

I have travelled all over the world and have never seen an airport more inefficient than this. Looks like a big Bollywood Bazaar. Much pomp but little stagnation, or rather of substance there is. Food and beverage prices are so high that even in the Arab Emirates. An empty croissant 7.5€ and if you want it salty (ham or salmon) prices will range from 14€ to 18€ ! A normal sandwich 13€! But we are not in Abu Dabi but in Turkey. Passenger services totally lacking. We were canceled the flight to Catania because of volcanic ash from Etna and they wanted to protect us over Rome or Naples? Obviously then any destination was at our expense and especially like: make do! Are these of the trade? Bad experience. DISCARD this airport for international transfers. At most if you really want to go and see Istanbul, you can not do without it.

I had already written an opinion on the businesses at this airport and can't help but add another layer. I have rarely seen something so shameful and I only wish it to collapse in on itself! Of course it's beautiful, it's big, it's impressive, it's flashy, but it's just a pipe job! Give me just one reason to buy anything at Duty Free where my bottle of perfume is €30 more expensive than at Sephora? The bottle of Bombay Saphir €10 more expensive than at Métro? We were in transit and had a basic latte (only one): €9.30!!! Seriously guys? Out of curiosity I looked at the price of the Big King XXL, €19.60 per dung… Totally out of line with the prices. Basically here it's "we've built you a superb airport, all that's more, you see, now the pigeons will have to go to the checkout". Yes, except that time is not on your side, there is a small one coming here (economic crisis), you do not see it yet, it is not very far away and it is monstrous. Your prices are going to undergo a little austerity treatment in the absence of bankruptcy, and given what you take travelers for, I admit that I am delighted about it.

We changed planes in Istanbul yesterday. On the way there last week we had a connecting flight to Kayseri. The prices for food and other things were OK in the "domestic flights" section. In the "international flights" or transfer section you think they're totally crazy. While I paid 449 TL (approx. €12) for a meal at Burger King in the domestic flights section, it costs twice as much in the international section. Who pays €25 for a Whopper meal? The same applies to the other fast food chains that have similar prices. At Saltbae the simplest burger costs €32. Compared to the well-known fast food chains it's almost a bargain. Nevertheless, we didn't support the crazy guy.

The prices in the duty free are much too high. At first we thought the currency symbol was wrong (€ instead of TL) but we were far from it. A Starbucks collector's mug "You're Here" or newer version should cost €66 (!!!). These cups normally cost between €11 and €15.

Alcohol, perfume, sweets are all incredibly expensive.

So if possible, pack something to eat beforehand! After a long search, I found free water to fill up at the gates. A small bottle of water usually costs €2 - in the Turkish shop outside it costs around €0.20.

Conclusion: the most expensive airport I know. And an insane armada of staff who are only concerned with themselves. Of course, who buys anything there at those prices? Unfortunately, a lot of flights go through the Istanbul hub, but if possible I won't change planes there anymore. THAT shouldn't be supported with a single cent!

My wife bought a Tom Ford Oud EDP perfume at the duty-free Istanbul Airport for my birthday. And it came out to be a fake one. I was really annoyed because she was excited to buy something I like and spent a lot of money for that.
Now I have to use it and cannot even tell her it is a fake as I don't want her to be disappointed.
