Top ways to experience Besiktas

The area

Neighborhood: Besiktas
In Besiktas, skyscrapers compete with palaces for space in an upscale vista replete with hilly green parkland filling in the margins. Step into this rather wealthy neighborhood and discover a rich mix of opportunities to shop, dine, and be entertained. For folks in search of urban buzz, not to mention a constant reminder of just how important Istanbul’s waterways are to its rich history, there's the frenetic Besiktas ferry terminal or the city’s most vibrant fish market to explore. For a timeout of metropolitan proportions, head to the bucolic Yildiz Park or the chic Bosphorus-side fishing village of Ortakoy. Attractions such as the grandiose Dolmabahce Palace and a bevy of other stately residences await admiration. To be sure, this large and not overly touristy swath of Istanbul yields plenty of pleasure for all.

Walking through the city, with the cable car we arrived in this beautiful neighborhood which has as its first starting point the stadium of a football team in the city and on the other side of the road the palace of a sultan who lived there with his family. Long queue to enter, we gave up and preferred to walk around the neighborhood and then take a trip to the Bosphorus. Many places along the shore of the Bosphorus, today there was also a regatta with very beautiful sailing boats.

The views are good, very magnificent. This was the second time I went there. The most beautiful and modern place. It's such a beautiful place, no matter how much you look at it, you never hear about it. This is the most famous and historical mosque in Istanbul. You can see the Marmaris sea on the right side. So no matter which way you turn your head, you will be presented with perfect and magnificent sights, performances and unforgettable images.

Istanbul, the magical city. I truly loved my stay and I am going back for sure. This city is just full of life, it is so much fun, the food is fabulous, the city is …. I can’t even find a word to describe it. There is always something to do and enjoy every minute of your stay. Istanbul has many many historical and attractions to see. If you are there for just few days make sure you plan smartly and see as much as possible. Make sure to take the Bosphorus tour and discover Istanbul from a different view. There are plenty of tours packages available however if you want to do things on your own just cross the Galata bridge and purchase your own Bosphorus tour ticket for only $12TL per person. If you enjoy fish, on your way passing the Galata bridge there are plenty of fish restaurants there under the bridge.
There are also many many beautiful shopping malls in Istanbul that you can enjoy if you are looking for shopping time. My ultimate favourite was the Zorlu Center, this place is very posh and trendy. If you are looking for a shop and dine with great up class and brand places to go make sure you go to Zorlu.

sisli and Besiktas are is also very nice for walking, window shopping and amazing coffee shops. Besiktas also hosts the historical heritage of the Ottomans, culture and art with its Dolmabahce, Ciragan and Yildiz Palace. Besiktas' atmosphere is so great and people have fantastic time with together. It has lots of cafes, restaurants. I do recommend this place to everyone. I truly enjoyed my time in Istanbul and there is lots to see, the only thing i could say to watch for is some taxi drivers try to take advantage of people, not all taxi drivers are bad but some try.

I stayed in Maçka, but the neighborhood of Besiktas was extremely close, and I walked through on one or two occasions on my trip. Particularly along Dolmabahce Cd, the hanging trees and flags above the street make for a nice touch for visitors entering and exiting. The hilly-ness, proximity to the Bosphorus, and nice selection of shops; hotels; and restaurants make this quarter a desirable one for tourists.

Whether or not you’re staying in this neighborhood, I still recommend you explore it!

We love Besiktas and the street restaurants. Balikca has outside tables right next to fresh fish market and on the Main Street. The menu hasn’t changed much over the years and they always have the seasonal catch.
After lunch we walked more in the main shopping area and bought some sweets and pastries. I can’t wait to go back and buy some sweet breads and freshly baked marzipan cookies.

Besiktas is a famous Istanbul neighborhood spreading on the European northern side around the famous Europe-Asia bridge.
The area is mostly residential, very safe to walk around, with many famous hotels. Apart from many cafes and restaurants, there's the Besiktas FC stadium. The area descends down to Bosphorus shores where's the magnificent Dolmabahce palace. From there you can also catch ferries and water taxi.

Reminded me of a smart suburb of London, with high end shops, restaurants & cafes with their customers eating & drinking outside. Locals with their designer dogs. We will definitely stay in this area & spend a lot more time here on our next trip to Istanbul.

I took a ferry over from Eminőnű to Beşiktaş and was so gladi did. It has a really laid back vibe with lots of coffee places, bars and restaurants to suit every palate. There is some good shopping to be done too. I really enjoyed soaking up the atmosphere while wandering the little streets.

The area is very lively with many restaurants and cafes nearby. You can also take the ferry across to the Asian side as well as take the Bosphorus tour. It is where you also take the Ferry to Princes Island.

The grand and luxurious Dolmabahce Palace is nearby and a must see.
