The area
Address
Neighborhood: Beyoglu
Istanbul’s most famous street, pedestrianized Istiklal Caddesi (Independence Avenue), throbs day and night and offers a fantastic array of architectural sights, shops, treats, and throngs upon teeming throngs of people. At the avenue’s northeastern end is expansive Taksim Square, thought by many to be the very heart of the city, with many of Turkey’s most renowned restaurants and some of Europe’s most happening nightlife in close proximity. In striking contrast, Beyoglu’s less trafficked areas – such as the affluent Cihangir and the antiques district of Cukurcuma – exude Old World charm and provide contemplative calm and splendid diversion via an assortment of cozy cafes, attractive boutiques, and quiet lanes.

Overall, the experience was interesting and kept us occupied for a couple of hours. However, it was pretty hectic and there were a lot of kids running around everywhere. The exhibits weren’t really regulated so there could be long waiting times too. Some of the illusions were pretty cool but it’s not a must see. Worth visiting if you have some time to spare though

Every exhibit was interesting and there were really helpful staff who would help take great photos of us inside some of the extraordinary illusion rooms. It's far more than static graphic images, though there are some great examples on the walls. The interactive exhibits are terrific. It appeals to all ages and is not too busy so you can try every interactive exhibit and really get involved. Terrific.

My husband and I, we visited this museum last weekend. Located in the famous Narmanlı Han (which can be considered as the Turkish version of The Hotel Biron of 19th century in Paris which had hosted many artists and which is today Musée Rodin), it's a small museum which has nothing to do with the historical past of this famous building.

We were the only adults at the museum which were not accompanying their kids. In fact, this is a museum for kids mainly. Entrance fee is quite expensive: 49.- TL per person, but of course, there is discount for children and teachers.

The museum is mainly about optical illusions, many of which can be accessed even at Internet. There are a few interactive parts which constitute in fact the major attraction at the museum. All exhibits are in the basement floor and ventilation is not working properly, so it's a bit suffocating in that sense.

We were there early in the morning and despite that, there were many visitors, I can not imagine the place when the crowds arrive. The place can be partially rented for birthday parties we were told.

The museum shop is quite small too and there are mainly wooden puzzles sold there.

Well, if you have kids, the place might be entertaining for them. But it's obviously not a good destination for grown-ups.

Totally not worth the price we paid for. Staff is so rude and not professional (lowkey racist). One of the assistants was so annoying and kept following us and rushing us to the point where my friend didn't get the chance to take pictures with the kitchen/plate trick. The vortex tunnel ? We didn't even enjoy it since she was screaming that another family was behind us. I don't get it, how are we even supposed to understand the illusion if we don't take a minute to read the notice to start with ? Or else is it still a museum if we're just gonna glance because there's a crowd ?Isn't it your responsibility to manage how many people should be inside ?

The museum is near to Galata Tower.

We went with the children (3 and 8 years old). Our visit was fun and enjoyable. The museum is not big, but it is a wonderful place to get out of reality.
