The area
Neighborhood: Grand Bazaar
Tourists, hawkers, and locals come together at the Grand Bazaar to comb its labyrinthine passageways in search of a bargain – be it a pair of brand name jeans, a handcrafted silk rug, or a perfectly brewed cup of tea. Outside the vast bazaar, worn, narrow streets wind their way down from its lofty perch to the southern shore of the Golden Horn, where the evocatively aromatic Spice Bazaar beckons alongside the elegant New Mosque (opened in 1665). Nearby, the famed Galata Bridge offers pedestrian access to urban delights across the river in Istanbul’s more residential and contemporary neighborhoods, while the must-see sights of Sultanahmet are but a leisurely stroll away.

The entrance to the roof is closed. The place itself is full of workshops. You may check out several cafes on the top floor offering stunning views though.

Buyuk Valide Han has been closed to vistors a couple of days ago. Local people told me they were completely fed up with the hype and the behaviour of some people on the roof. It didn't sound they intended to ever leave anyone get up there again.

And then the view is awesome. This place is not so secret, there were at least 20 people on this rooftop at any one time. and we took many amazing photos here. just hope people would stop jumping on the domes...

advice to tourists who see this -- jump at your own risk. I felt the dome move when I sat on it. And I'm 55kg.

It is one of the old parts in Istanbul, before people used to go up there to take photos with a good view of city but recently the government closed it.

The roof was closed but we stopped for coffee in a small balcony with a beautiful view on the Bosphorus River. The owner was very nice, coffee was very good and the place very cute. When you get to building, go up the stairs and follow signs for under the roof. You will walk among small artisan shops and artists studios

I read a lot that here is an open roof, which offers a stunning view of the city. But alas. All the domes, on which tourists were sitting and taking pictures, were in disrepair and the roof was closed. I was about to leave, but I decided to go for a walk and see what was there and found and amazing coffee place. It was the best coffee in my life! Only it is made of pistachio tree, and that it made it so good!

the place is in the very corner of the building. This is a small space right under one of the domes, nice music plays here and there is a balcony overlooking the Golden Horn.

There are so many places in Istanbul where you can see the city. Even in Büyük Valide Han are two place which are open for guests. The building itself is 400 years old it was and is one of the most intresting and orginal building in Istanbul. There are thousands of roofs in the city but there is only one "Büyük Valide Han".
